Memorial Sabbath Schonl.


CONSTITUTION.


ARTICLE I.


OBJECT .- The object of this School is to organize the adult members of the Church and Society into classes for the study of the Bible, and to extend the advantages of religious instruction to the children and youth, who may be gathered here.


ARTICLE II.


OFFICERS .- The officers of the school shall consist of one male and one female Superintendent, a Secretary, a Treasur- er, and a Librarian, who shall be chosen by ballot, at the annual meeting of teachers, at which, or at any other busi- ness meeting, seven shall constitute a quorum.


ARTICLE III.


ANNUAL MEETING .- The annual meeting of teachers shall be held on the evening of the last Monday in October. All other meetings shall be subject to the call of the Superin- tendent, or five of the teachers.


ARTICLE IV.


MALE SUPERINTENDENT .- The male Superintendent shall have the general supervision of the School, and shall preside at all its meetings. He shall arrange, number, and seat the classes ; also, make transfers from one class to another, when- ever, in his judgment, the interests of the School require it.


He shall maintain a vigorous administration of every de- partment of the School, and see that everything is conducted in a becoming and proper manner. He may appoint an as- sistant.

SABBATH SCHOOL CONSTITUTION.


ARTICLE V.


FEMALE SUPERINTENDENT .- The female Superintendent shall assist in the supervision of the female department of the School.


ARTICLE VI.


SECRETARY .- The duty of the Secretary shall be to keep carefully, and in good order, the register of the Sehool, minute and reeord all its transactions, conduct its corres- pondenee, and discharge all other duties appropriate to his office. He may appoint an assistant.


ARTICLE VII.


TREASURER .- The Treasurer shall receive all moneys col- leeted in and belonging to the Sehool, and keep an account of the same ; he shall also report at the annual meeting of the teachers in October, or oftener if required.


ARTICLE VIII.


LIBRARIAN .- The Librarian shall attend to all matters re- lating to the library, and report at. the annual meeting, or any other meeting if required.


ARTICLE IX.


DUTIES OF TEACHERS .- 1. To be punctual in attendance at every session of the School, and in ease of necessary ab- senee to provide a substitute.


2. To preserve order in their several classes; to permit no seholar to leave the room without the permission of the Superintendent, and to report promptly to him every viola- tion of any of the rules of the School.


3. To make all possible exertions to promote the general object of the School ; to visit their scholars at their homes, especially when sick or absent ; to report, when called upon, the state of their classes and the names of absentees; and to seeure, in the highest practicable degree, the advancement of their scholars both in knowledge and piety.


ARTICLE X.


SCHOLARS shall not be entitled to the use of the library until they shall have been in the School, at least, two Sab- baths, nor without the approbation of the teacher.

ARTICLE XI.


BOARD OF MANAGERS .- The officers and teachers shall constitute a Board of Managers, by whom persons of suitable qualifications may be elected teachers on the nomination of the Superintendent, a majority of those present being neces- sary to a choice.


ARTICLE XII.


TEACHERS' MEETINGS .- The Board of Managers shall es- tablish and sustain teachers' meetings, to be held monthly or quarterly, or oftener; where they may discuss and adopt any measures which shall be for the best interest of the School.


ARTICLE XIII.


The teachers shall continue their instruction during the time allotted for recitations, and there shall be no conversa- tion except on the subject of the lesson, or growing out of it.


ARTICLE XIV.


AUDITORS .- The Superintendent and Secretary shall audit all accounts pertaining to the School.


ARTICLE XV.


AMENDMENTS .- This Constitution may be altered by a two- thirds vote at any business meeting, if one month's notice shall have been given of the proposed alteration.


FESTIVAL.


The annual festival shall be held Christmas Eve, (Dec. 24) except when it falls on Saturday or Sunday, when it shall be held on the previous Friday evening.


ANNIVERSARY.


The anniversary of the School shall be held on the Sab- bath afternoon next following the annual festival.


MOTTO.


The motto of the School shall be that of the Memorial Church : " LOVE TO GOD, GOOD WILL TO MEN."
