Dr. E. D. SPEAR
SO MUCH CELEBRATED FOR HIS REMARKABLE CURES.
Office, 897 Washington Street,
BOSTON.
The testimony of many persons who seem- ed fit tenants for the grave, and who now, happily, enjoy the best of health, is proof sufficient of the great efficacy of the treat- ment of Dr. E. D. SPEAR. Success has at- tended the efforts of Dr. SPEAR in a won- derful degree. " Consumption's ghastly form" has brought terror to many a stout heart, and defied the skill of many an ex- cellent physician. That Dr. SPEAR has re- stored to perfect health many suffering from this obstinate disease, is an undoubt- ed fact, and the skeptical should be con- vinced by investigation .- Watchman and Reflector.
WELLFLEET, May 5, 1874.
DR. E. D. SPEAR-Dear Sir: It is with pleasure I acknowledge the great benefit I have received from the use of your medicine. In December, 1861, I was attacked with bleeding from the lungs. In June, 1862, I had another, and a much more severe at- tack. I well remember the time I got my sister to write to Dr. SPEAR for his medi- cine. My bleeding was not any common case, I assure you. After giving the medi- cine a fair trial it entirely cured me. From that time to this I have had no bleeding. My health is good. I can work as long as the best of men. My weight is one hundred and fifty, the same as before my sickness. I know of uo reason why I am not good for thirty years, for I have outlived a large number that thought I would die fourteen years ago.
JOHN G. HIGGINS.
KEENE, N. H., Dec. 8, 1873.
DR. SPEAR. I am very much better. My lungs felt filled up, but now feel free and easy. My appetite is good; I have gained ten pounds. I have been very punctual in taking the medicine. I think I should have been in my grave but for you. My prayers shall go up to God that he shall bless you and yours.
Respectfully, MRS. MIRA A. BAKER.
SAND LAKE, N. Y., March 2, 1874.
DR. SPEAR-Dear Sir: Last August you sent me a box of medicine for my son, for bleeding at the lungs. In six weeks he ap- peared like a new man. He said he would need no more medicine, for since the first of September, until the 20th of February he had not spit any blood. Two weeks ago he took cold, and has raised some blood.
Please send, as soon as possible, a box of medicine, and he will pay on delivery. ORLANDO HORTON.
EAST LYME, CONN., Nov. 5, 1873.
DR. SPEAR-Dear Sir: I am thankful that God has given you skill to relieve the afflicted. I am happy in the thought that I can do anything towards publishing your name to the world. To God be all the glo- ry.
Yours truly. NANCY MANWARREN.
Rev. E. H. McKenney, of Saugus Centre (late of Lynn and Elliot, Me.), could not walk without a cane; prayed to the Lord for di- rections ; went to Dr. Spear and was healed.
Wm. J. Jeffrey, at North Reading, was confined to his room ; had been sick a year; looked on by all his friends and physician as past earthly aid. Called Dr. Spear to see him. This was in August, 1875. The past winter he has worked in the woods, and writes, June 2, 1877 : " My health is better than a year ago."
Charles W. Doe, at Marblehead, had bleeding from the lungs for three years; had given up all hope, but, to please his mother and sister, applied to Dr. Spear. This was six years ago. The past winter he has been hard at work; " not lost a day by sickness."
Rev. Miles N. Reed, of Maplewood, writes June 8, 1877.
DR. E. D. SPEAR-Dear Sir: I truly ap- preciate your services as a medical adviser and physician. I concluded at the time I consulted you that yon understood my case thoroughly ; and I feel sure that your treat- ment has proved that my conclusion was correct. It gives me pleasure to recom- mend you to the afflicted, believing that they will find you kind and faithful in your consultations, and safe and thorough in your method of treating diseases.
Hon. F. S. Egleston, this year's Represen- tative to the Legislature, from Westfield, having sampled Dr. Spear's Indian Vegeta- ble Medicines, was restored to health, gain- ing at least 40 pounds. He recommends Dr. E. D. Spear to the sick of his own town, also to the sick of all other towns.
DR. SPEAR will also refer to Jas. T. Croft, 97 Beverly st., cured of consumption; John Ward, 787 Sixth st., cured of consumption; Charles W. Doe, Marblehead, cured of bleed- ing from the lungs; Rev. E. H. McKenney, Saugus Centre, cured of consumption; Mrs. Erving, Newton; Mr. Wm. B. Trask, Pond st., ward 16; Mr. Russell Carruth, So. Boston, and many others, who have been cured of various diseases which had baffled the skill or other physicians. Dr. SPEAR may be consulted upon all diseases, free of charge

STREETS, COURTS AND AVENUES.
The streets of New Bedford, with a very few excep- tions, are laid out north and south, and east and west. Those running north and south are numbered commencing at Union street, and increasing each way, with the even numbers on the east, and the odd numbers on the west side. Those running east and west are numbered com- mencing at the river, and increasing westerly, with the even numbers on the south, and the odd numbers on the north side.
The letters enclosed by parenthesis, which follow the name of any street, signify the general bearing of such street from the City Hall. Thus, School street (S.), is south from the City Hall.
Acushnet avenue (N.), from Purchase, next north of Lo- gan, across B. C. F. & N. B. R. R. crossing, north to Acushnet village
