TO THE PUBLIC.

We issue this, our first Directory of North Adams, suggested as & necessity by the rapid growth of the town and the demands of the bus- iness people. The canvass of the preceeding directory was commen- ced in the summer of 1886 and the work was delivered about the first of the next year. We commenced the canvass of this Directory April first and the work is delivered before July,-in half the time. The. canvass of the town has been made by us personally from house to. house and the information taken from the parties themselves as far as possible. We have added about 1,800 new names to the Direct- ory, including over 200 in the village of Blackinton. With the new names added and names omitted and corrected, we present the book with some 2,500 changes,

We are under many obligations for favors shown during the can- vass and for the great interest taken in the work. To the business men we wish to return our thanks for their advertising patronage this being the first time a North Adams Directory has been printed in the town. . Trusting that our efforts in publishing our first Directory will be appreciated and that we will merit your patronage, in future edi- tions, we are

Yours Truly,

KNAPP & LARKIN.
