J. S. Draper has placed in the Library a map of Wayland, drawn in manuscript, on which the roads, bridges, and houses are located as they existed in 1776. The names or occupants of the houses are also noted.
The Cabinet.
This appendage to the Library was started three years ago, and is designed to contain for exhibition such articles as may be volun- tarily contributed, or loaned, which may not only be worthy of casual attention, but serve also to illustrate important subjects of study treated in the books of the Library.
It has already, and especially during the past year, secured the attention of many persons, who have generously added to its con- tents. It is also worthy of remark that a large number of visitors avail themselves of opportunities to examine the articles ; and several young persons have appeared with book and pencil in hand to make a practical use of the collection as students.
It is doubtless true that many of our resident citizens might contribute articles of value, without apparent loss to themselves. If only a single gift from each should be received during the coming year such accessions would greatly enhance the value and increase the interest of this incipient institution.

AUDITOR'S REPORT.
-
In making up the report for the year just closed the Auditor has found it to be up-hill work.
Owing to sickness the Treasurer has been unable to give that attention to his books which he would otherwise have done ; he has, however, vouchers for every payment that he has made.
The Treasurer has been unable to make any report, and "in lieu of" the Auditor has endeavored to show the affairs of the town as shown by the Treasurer's books, and what information he could obtain.
