Mar 8 Rev. & beloved Brethren. We have found, That the following Brethren, Members in this Church, viz; Mr. Nathaniel Fairfield , Mr. Joseph Fairfield, Mr.Timothy Cadwell, Mr. Isaac Goodale ,& Capt. Nathaniel Truman, have signed a paper of withdrawment from the Pastor of this Church & have withdrawn from public worship with us & communion with this church in holy Ordinances, in violation of their Covenant Engage- ments & the Rules & Order of the Gospel. We have accord- inrly taken the Rule of the Gospel with them, to gain them a sense of their fault & return to their Duty, but to no Effect,we have not been able to gain them to their duty, and now tell the matter to this Church for their hearing and Decision agreeable to the Rules of the Gos - pel. 1 To the Pastor & Church of Christ in Pittsfield, Rev. & beloved, The Subscriber has found , That Woodbridge Little Esq. did draw up a Paper of withdrawment from Mr. Allen's Ministry & for calling in amother Minister, & setting up a seperate Worship among us, that of the Church of Eng- land, although he hath not actually so withdrawn from us, & so creating a Schism & Division in the Church & Town, without saying anything to Mr . Allen previously to it &; that he signed said paper with his name ,with money to effect the object, & committed it for circulation through the Town into the hands of Mr. Allen's political adver - saries without giving him any Intimation of it . "hich conduct I viewed as being contrary to the law of love, & the peace & Unity of this Church & Town, of very hurtful tendency, tending to perpetuate Divisions amo ne us,& to introduce a mode of worship if not a System of Doctrines we do not approve of. I have accordingly taken the Gospel steps with him recorded in the 18 Chap. of St.Mat. to convince him of his Error in so doing, he hath indeed
