been advancing rapidly in our promptness of the pay- ment of our taxes. From a period when from 50% to 60% was paid in a fiscal year, the year of 1903 rose to 90%, and I am glad to report that 1904 has eclipsed all previous records and shows payment of 92%, and this in spite of the facts, that a general raise in valuation was deemed necessary this year, as well as poor business conditions, together with the failure of one of our local street railways, which holds back about $2,000.00 worth of taxes. This degree of promptness has enabled us to pass our first December without borrowing money.

Attleborough has now taken rank with other large, progressive towns in Massachusetts for a commendable promptness in tax paying.

Respectfully submitted, SAMUEL M. HOLMAN, Collector of Taxes.
