SALEM DIRECTORY.
HYDEDE
I VERY respectfully take this method of informing the citizens of Salem, that, having purchased a
BUTTON-HOLE MACHINE
of the UNION BUTTON-HOLE MACHINE CO., and secured the services of an experienced opera- tor, who will devote her whole attention to this branch of business, I am ready to receive and make all the BUTTON-HOLES in garments that the citizens will send to me, at the low price of three cents per Button-Hole. This is the only Machine sewing a Button-Hole with the same stitch as hand work ; introducing the "bar" or cord so essential to make firm and substantial work, in precisely the same manner as always found necessary in Button-Holes made by hand. The stitch is formed with two threads instead of one, thereby imparting double strength and dura- bility over hand work ; at the same time the materials may be closely matched if desired by two shades or colors of silk.
Button-Hole Machines heretofore invented have failed from the want of some of the important fea- tures introduced in this Machine, and they are therefore found impracticable. I have been to consid- erable expense in getting this machine; and, by giving particular attention to the work sent me, I hope to merit the confidence and patronage of a liberal public, promising that their orders shall be promptly attended to.
I wish also to extend an invitation to the ladies and gentlemen who would like to see the Machine in operation to call at rear of No. 158 ESSEX STREET. .
Very respectfully, yours, SAMUEL MOORE.
Any person wishing to purchase a machine can receive all necessary information by applying as above
