BEVERLY CITY DIRECTORY, 1910
PREFACE
The eighth volume of the City Directory, giving all the latest street numbers as made by the city last year, will be found a valuable handbook to many for this information alone. A slight increase in population is shown over 1909, which goes to show that Beverly's growth is a healthful one. The large percentage of changes made from the matter of last year's book shows clearly that the yearly canvass of the city has become a necessity for anything that approaches accuracy in a directory. We have, as usual, made one thorough, and a secondary canvass of the whole city, and present herewith the result: As complete and carefully-compiled a Directory as we believe it possible to issue. The married women's names are inserted by the usual method we have adopted.
The map, which has been carefully corrected again this year, shows all new streets and other changes up to date. The special information in regard to the location of the summer residences is a valuable feature of this Directory and can be found in no other. Both key and map show the latest cor- rections in the district comprising Beverly, Manchester, Hamilton and Wenham.
Our thanks are tendered to all who have furnished information, and especially to our numerous subscribers and advertising patrons.
CROWLEY & LUNT.

CITY OF BEVERLY
STREET AND HOUSE DIRECTORY
Giving the location of the streets, places, parks, squares, etc., and showing what other streets and places run from them or across them, with the point at which they intersect. The system adopted for numbering the streets of the city is that a person starting at the beginning of any street, and following along with the numbers, every even number will be on the left and every odd number on the right hand, with the names of heads of families and persons in business in the order of location.
The cipher (0) is used to designate houses or buildings without numbers. The dash (-) is used to show where connecting streets and avenues cross or intersect, when such intersections or crossings have no numbers, and also to designate railroad crossings and bridges, parks, etc.
When there is more than one family in a house, the down-stairs name is given first.
Abbreviations: Ave., avenue; byd., beyond; jct., junction; n., near; opp., opposite; r., rear; s. r., summer resident, etc., etc.
