The design of this School is, not only to prepare boys for College, but also to fit them for any of the various depart- ments of life. The school has now been under the charge of its present instructor for more than eight years, during which time, more than thirty of its pupils have been pre- pared for College, and many others have entered upon mer- cantile and scientific employments.
The very liberal patronage hitherto bestowed, is a flatter- ing testimony that the efforts made to produce a School of the highest order, in all its influences, have not been unap- preciated.
By untiring devotion to his duties, and the employment of able and faithful assistants, the subscriber hopes to merit and receive a continuance of public favor. Parents entrust- ing their children to his care, for education, are assured that all the influences, moral and intellectual, to which they may be subjected shall be of the highest order.
The arrangements of the School are such, that each pupil will be advanced as rapidly as he is prepared for it ; and no one will be suffered to become disheartened, by being retard- ed in all branches because he may happen to be dull or back - ward in some. Every effort will be made to encourage pro- gress in those branches with which the pupil is most famil- iar, as well as to bring him forward in those in which he is deficient.
Visitors are at all times welcomed to the School, and cards stating terms and conditions may be obtained upon ap- plication to the subscriber.

THE MUTUAL BENEFIT LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY was organized in IS15, in New Jersey, from which State it holds a liberal and perpetual charter Its affairs are con- ducted by able and practical business men. who have given it a basis co-extensive with the Northern States, and commanding the confi- dence of business men in all parts of the country.
Its object has been to secure to the insurers themselves ALL THE PROFITS of a business which joint stock companies of capitalists have found to be exceedingly profitable, and at the same time to make the terins as easy to insurers as could be consistent with per- fect safety. In this aim it has received acknowledged and abundant success. It has now existing more than 7,000 policies, with availa- ble personal securities and cash investments, all drawing interest, to meet them, amounting to
$800,000.
Within four years it has paid about $250,000 to the representatives, widows or orphans of deceased policy holders, whose claims have always been promptly met, and it has an equal amount of cash capi- tal on hand profitably and securely invested. Its characteristic fea- tures are these :
1. Its rates of premium are adequate to provide against the most sweeping mortality. being the same as those of European stock companies, which for generations have promptly paid their losses and divided large profits.
2. All premiums are paid in cash, yearly, quarterly or monthly, at the option of the insured ;- but to those taking policies for life, whose premium amounts to 850, one half of the premium, it desired, WILL BE LOANED At 6 per cent., the annual profits payable to the insured being retained as security in part.
3. Policies for life-and no others-share annually the profits of the whole business. To those not indebted to the company for pre- mium, the dividend of profits is payable in script, receivable for premium, or two-thirds of which will at any time be paid in cash ; to those indebted for premium, it will be credited aguiust their
notes. As the dividend of profits has amounted to 35 per cent. on the net receipts, leaving a large surplus fund.
4. Members incur no liability beyond their premiums.
