Goodrich arms. The inscription is our number 581.

Clark Arms. These arms are on the stone bearing inscription No. 992, and are repeated on the stone inscribed with epitaph No. 997. The reader may learn that inscription No 991 " the tomb of Samuel Winslow" is also on the first of these Clark tombs, and in-

dicates that Mr. Winslow, a former sexton of the neighborhood, obtained possession of the tomb in some manner.
III.
Watts. On the reverse of the stone bearing the inscription No. 1199, to the Rev. Andrew Eliot, will be found the following arms.
This however was an honest transaction, as is pointed out in the Heraldic Journal, ii, 119, as the Eliots bought the tomb and paid for altering the stone. The presumption is that the Watts family represented the original owner, and that perhaps the stone came from tomb No. 15. The arms are not inscribed to any family of the name of Watts.ª
