FOR ALL KINDS OF MACHINERY.
As a thoroughly good lubricant for machine use, Downie's Hyper Sperm Oil has received unquali- fied commendation from mill-owners and manufacturers. With all the good qualities of genuine sperm oil, and with none of its objectionable features, it is not strange that it has come into so general use. It is less than one-half the cost of sperm oil, and will not stain the most delicate fabric, while, as it has not in the slightest degree the objectionable "gumming" peculiarity of sperm oil, the ma- chinery runs with greater ease and smoothness, giving, in the amount of power required, i. e., pounds of coal burned. a saving by no means inconsiderable. Mr. William Downie, the inventor of the oil, after years of experience in mills, and other manufacturing establishments in Europe, finally succeeded in perfecting such a lubricant as his personal knowledge of manufacturers' needs taught him would be appreciated. And so the event has proved. The name, "Hyper Sperm Oil," has just been patent- ed and is now the trade-mark of the article .- Commercial Bulletin, Oct. 23d, 1875.
