TOWN OF MERRIMAC
REPORT OF THE MERRIMAC PLAYGROUND COMMISSION
To the Citizens of the Town of Merrimac:
Your Playground Commission makes its report for the fiscal year 1941-1942.
The past year saw many of the children and grown-ups en- joying themselves at the Playground. In the fall a skating rink was built, due the mild weather, and lack of frost, it has been almost impossible to flood the whole area. Howover, a good at- tendance of children have been enjoying themselves every after- noon.
Being on new ground, it settled at the South end of the rink, making it lower at this point. We have had flood lights installed, and we can look forward to another year, when we can give the children a real program of outdoor activities.
We feel that even though considerable money has been spent in the past on the playground, that it is so near competion, that, a six or seven weeks W.P.A. project would give us a finished playing field. In view of such a small expenditure being necessary it seems too bad to have all the past work and money thrown away and not have this work completed, and it is heartily desired that this may be accomplished in the year 1942.
We wish to thank the Light and Water Board, for their cooperation, and also the Fire Department for their services. Also Mr. Ralph Buzzell for the bull-dozer which was used at the playground.
Respectfully submitted,
WILLIAM H. RAFFERTY, CHARLES H. BISHOP, BURTON C. LAFAVER, CLAYTON K. TURNER,
Merrimac Playground Commission
