REPORT OF THE MERRIMAC PLAYGROUND COMMISSION
To the Citizens of the Town of Merrimac:
Your Playground Commission makes its report for the fiscal year 1943-1944.
The past year saw many of our youth joining the armed forces of our Country, therefore there was not much activity at the Play- ground. This year with the $1,000 appropriated at the last Town Meeting, we were able to level, and cut the bank, and make the Playground presentable to our boys when they come home to us again. We also purchased equipment for the children, which ar- rived too late to be set up this year. This equipment which is stored for the winter, consists of a Merry-Go-Round capable of taking 30 children at one time for a ride of 25 minutes. The swing set con- sists of 6 swings which will furnish 12 children with recreation. The Tee-Da board is a set of 4 boards which can take care of 8

children at one time. The Sand Box will provide fun for at least 25 children.
The field has been sowed and in the spring we will roll and finish the ball field, cutting out base-lines, and erecting foul lines. The Playground Commission feel they will have a very attractive Play- ground for the town in 1944. We wish to thank the Board of Se- lectmen for their co-operation, and also thank Mr. Harold Whiting for the fine co-operation given us in 1943.
Respectfully submitted,
WILLIAM H. RAFFERTY,
THEODORE R. CHASE,
