So far along Life's journey,
Dear classmates, have we gone,
A golden ring of friendship Was forged as we sped on,
Teachers and class to link as one,
"Till all our sands are run,"
Closely, firmly in golden Friendship bound !
Our future seems all brightness ;
Life greets us with a smile,
But glad hearts lose their lightness
When hopes too false beguile. Oh, Alma Mater! Grant that we To thee may faithful be, Ever, ever, ever to Thee be true. Farewell, our days of classroom ! Dear days of promise sweet,
When joys and sorrows mingled,
Youth's lights and shadows meet.
Long years will come, long summers go, Ere such again we know. Fleeting, fleeting, fade gently no v those days.
But now upon Life's threshold, We face the coming years, With courage, not foreboding, With smiling, not in tears !
69
We of '16, all loyalty, Will cherish Milford High, Dearer, dearer, in sunshine or in storm. Oh, tender Alma Mater ! As we now sing farewell,
Our hearts are full at parting, As our lips trembling, tell Our love for thee shall never cease,
How'er the years increase ! Swelling, swelling, Love's smiles and tears combine.
Our farewell words are spoken,
Though dear schooldays are done, Love's golden chain's unbroken[; Its ties are just begun. Sweet mem'ries hallow Milford High,
Though now we say goodby !
Hallowed, Alma Mater ! Forevermore !
