During the voting the ballot box was opened by unanimous consent of the moderator and town clerk seven times for the purpose of taking out and count- ing the votes, first at 12:45 P. In pursuance to a vote passed at the adjourned Town Meeting, March 5, 1934, the inhabitants of the Town of Milford, qualified by law to vote in elections and in Town affairs, met in Town Hall, on the above date, and proceeded as follows:
The meeting was called to order at eight o'clock P. M., by John T. McLoughlin, Moderator.
Article 3. Voted : To accept the reports of all Town Officers, as printed in the annual town reports, as amended, by inserting in the Town Clerk's report of Town appropriations on page 15, the following item:
Town's share of the cost of providing the Worcester County Tuberculosis Hospital $7,020.00.
Article 4. Myron Morey, Secretary of the Finance Committee, presented the report of the Committee.
REPORT OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE Mr. Moderator and Citizens of Milford :
We are meeting for the purpose of appropriating sufficient funds to carry on the functions of town gov- ernment for the current year and will, before the budget is made up and warrant dissolved, expend be- tween six and seven hundred thousand dollars.

The size of the amount should cause us to be thoughtful in its appropriation and careful in its ex- penditures.
The conditions are somewhat different than a year ago, the Municipal employees have gone back to full pay and we trust sincerely that it will continue long into the future.
While there are trends towards general improve- ment, yet there is some basis for not too much optim- ism.
In the budget for this year there are several unpaid bills that should be paid, as merchants should be reim- bursed for material and labor paid for service ren- dered, and while the Finance Committee will not. oppose the payment of the bills, yet we cannot ap- prove the practice of overdrafts on the appropriations.
We have gone so far as to enter on our records a vote not to consider any unpaid bills in excess of appropriations.
We wish to thank various boards for their co-opera- tion in making up this budget and also to Representa- tive Elmer C. Nelson, for much valuable information.
The following list make up our recommendations for the year nineteen hundred and thirty-four.

On all taxes remaining unpaid November 1st, 1934, interest shall be charged at the rate of six (6) per cent per annum on all taxes, and by way of penalty at the additional rate of two (2) per cent per annum on the amount of all taxes in excess of Three Hundred Dollars, ($300.00) assessed to any tax payer, whose taxes remain unpaid after the expiration of three (3) months from October 15th, 1934.

The Collector shall be paid the sum of Thirty-five hundred dollars ($3,500.00) per annum for the col- lection of all taxes and assessments.
The Town of Milford shall pay all expenses incurred by the Collector in law and equity in collection of said taxes and assessments.
The Town of Milford shall pay all expenses of the Collector's Office, excepting Clerk hire, which ex- pense shall be paid by the Collector from his own salary.
Article 6. Voted: That the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is au- thorized to borrow money from time to time in antici- pation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1935, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year and to renew such note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year, in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44 of the General Laws, any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1935.
