Report of the Overseers of the Poor.

The Overseers of Poor respectfully report the condition of the Town Farm as being good. The running expenses have been large, owing to the increase of Paupers and the sickness of some of those sent there. Some new bedding and beds had to be got ; also consid- erable repairing done on the buildings.

The Poor House is crowded, and to accommodate more ad- ditions will have to be made. The expense for the support of poor in the town appears larger than ever before, and the reason for this is the large amount of bills that were due March 1, 1888, that were not presented for payment. Another reason is the enormous increase of paupers, which is not only in this town but throughout the state.

Prosecuting Committee's Report.

Your Committee appointed for the suppression of illegal liquor sell- ing would respectfully submit the following report :

As far as we have been able to ascertain there has been very little, if any, sales of liquor by unlicensed persons during the past year, and we think that the licensed dealers have complied with the require- ments of their licenses as closely as it is possible to enforce the pro- visions of the license law now on the statute books.

Early in the year all the licensed places were visited by the com- mittee for the purpose of examining their condition.

In our judgment the arrangements of some of the saloons did not in all respects meet the requirements of the law. These deficiencies were reported to the proper authority, as they related to matters over which the committee had no jurisdiction.
