Respectfully Submitted,
J. B. SHAW, Treasurer.
There are Selectmen's orders outstanding amounting to $304.32
Report for 1899-1900.
The Selectmen respectfully submit the following report to the citizens of the Town :
No doubt it will be noticed that the contingent and high- way appropriations have been overdrawn, but owing to the payment of bills contracted previous to this fiscal year, and on account of the recent rainstorms, it was necessary to ex- pend more than the amounts appropriated. In the manage- ment of the affairs intrusted to us we have endeavored to save for the town as much money as possible, and as a result we report an unexpended sum in most of the departments.
No smalll amount was expended in the payment of bills incurred by the blizzards of last winter.

HIGHWAYS.
It has been found impossible to maintain the highways in a condition which would be expected from the expenditures reported on highways, on account of the recent rainstorms, (but considering the outlays made by the neighboring towns we consider ourselves very fortunate to report no larger sums overdrawn.) Quite a large sum has been expended in grad- ing and hardening Main street and Church street in the Depot village.
The condition of the highways at present necessitates an increase in the appropriation for this department.
