Cemetery Commissioners' Report
In submitting their annual report the Board of Ceme- tery Commissioners wish to express their deep apprecia- tion of the very generous gift of a beautiful entrance to Oak Knoll Cemetery presented by Robert F., Harold F. C. and Ernest L. Merriam in honor of their mother, Mrs. Lilla (Conant) Merriam. This memorial is not only a beautiful addition to our cemetery but is a fine expression of the deep appreciation of these sons for the love and training of this mother who lived the quiet, simple life of the old New England housewife, whose heart was in her home and whose chief aim in life was the physical and mental development of her children.
Additional land at Oak Knoll and Four Corners Ceme- teries is badly needed and should be acquired in the very near future that it may be developed before present area is exhausted.
A donation from the descendants of the men who settled Palmer, whose bodies lie in the old cemetery at Palmer Center, would enable the Cemetery Commissioners to restore that old burial ground and be a fine memorial to those old settlers to whom we owe so much.
