The Trustees would call special attention to the fact that a full alphabetical list of all the books added to the Library within the year past, with alcove and shelf numbers attached,
8

is given in the Librarian's report. This annual list will henceforth appear regularly as part of the Librarian's report ; and it will be a matter of importance for all borrowers from the Library to carefully preserve the annual Town Reports, beginning with the year 1882. They will thus have by them a complete catalogue of the Library up to the beginning of each current year. Another supplement will not, in all propability, be published before the year 1890.
The Museum of Natural History, to which reference was made in our last report, has received during the year a num- ber of valuable donations, which are specified, in connection with the names of the donors, in the Librarian's report.
In addition to these, this department has received from the constant patron of the Library, Mr. John Smith, the sum of $100 as the beginning of a fund to defray incidental expenses. No general effort has yet been made to increase this fund ; but from the interest already manifested, there is good reason to anticipate that it will soon reach a sum, the income of which will be sufficient to meet the ordinary calls of this department.
Respectfully submitted,
JOSEPH W. SMITH, WARREN F. DRAPER, JAMES B. SMITH, JOHN CORNELL, E. KENDALL JENKINS,
JAMES SHAW, FRANCIS H. JOHNSON,
TRUSTEES.
