ANNUAL REPORT

REPORT OF SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

To the Berkley School Committee :

Gentlemen :

A year of epoch-making changes in social, civic and political life has come to a close. These changes of necessity have a very real influence upon the edu- cational program of every community which is alert to its responsibilities. In the following report I have attempted to show something of the influence of these changing situations upon our own schools.

A year of positive attempts to stage an economic come-back finds us still face to face with the finan- cial problems, which bring the schools close to the taxpayer. For towns such as Berkley to whom each dollar saved is of vital import the matter of State or Federal aid for education means much. An endeavor to show the possibilities of saving through increased State aid is also included in the report.
