The town met in accordance with adjournment from March 27th, Moderator in the chair. The report of Town Officers the matter under consideration.
Voted that in making up their reports for the present fiscal year all officials, except the Town Clerk, shall make only such reports as cover receipts and expenditures of their departments with an appraisal of all property on hand ; except in the report of the Superintendent of Schools, he shall state the amount of money expended for supplies during the year and the value of all supplies on hand at the end of the year. These items need not be mentioned, but classed under their proper headings. He shall also make his financial report correspond with that of the Selectmen and Treasurer.
Voted to lay the report of the Town Officers on the table.
Article 6. Voted to appropriate for the support of the poor, $6,000.00.

Report of the Appropriation Committee taken up.
Voted to appropriate the sum of seventy-five hundred dol- lars ($7500) for operating the Electric Light Plant.
Article 25. Voted that the street lights be run all night.
Voted that the revenue derived from the domestic and com- mercial lights, meter rents and jobbing for the year 1901, be ap- plied, to pay four hundred and thirty dollars ($430) for the · sinking fund, and the balance for the operating expenses and connecting new users.
Art. 28. Voted to appropriate :
For Hydrant Service, four thousand, five hundred and fifty dollars ($4,550.00).
Art. 29. For water works, "sinking funds" five thou- sand, one hundred and twenty dollars ($5,120).
Art. 26. Voted to continue the night police and that the sum of twenty-one hundred and ninety dollars ($2190) be ap- propriated to pay the same.
Art. 27. Voted to appropriate the sum of one hundred and seventy-five dollars ($175) and pay the same to Gen'l S. Thayer Post 87, G. A. R., to assist in the expenses of "Memorial Day."

A report in progress of the com- · mittee on future water supply with recommendations, that the town' use water meters to some extent to be installed at the judgment of the Water Commissioners, and that a general sys- tem of meters be adopted as soon as practicable, that the town authorize the Water Commissioners to expend the sum of fifteen hundred dollars ($1500) for the improvement of the present fil- ter gallery at Little Pond, to be taken from the revenue from water rates, that the same committee be continued another year

with full powers for further investigation as to additional water supply.

The town met in accordance with adjournment from April 10th. Moderator Hobart in the chair.
Article 3. Voted to take up Article 3. Voted that a com- mittee of three be appointed by the chair to consider the needs of the South School District as regards school accommodations and report at some future meeting. Moderator appointed Daniel E. Cain, Samuel W. Frazier and Brainard T. Dyer as that com- mittee.
Art. 18. Voted to accept the provisions of Section 337 of Chapter 548 of the Acts of 1898.

Art. 34. Voted to add $100 to the amount recommended by the Appropriation Committee for miscellaneous expenses, for the use of the Tree Warden and that said officer be authorized to expend not exceeding that amount.

Voted to appropriate in the aggregate ninety thousand seven hundred and fifty-seven dollars ($90.757) and that eighty - four thousand, five hundred and fifty-seven dollars ($84,557) of that amount be raised by taxation.
Voted that six thousand, two hundred dollars ($6,200) from the Bank and Corporation Tax be applied to the foregoing . appropriations.
Voted that the Selectmen be authorized to draw orders on the Treasurer to the amount of twenty-six hundred dollars ($2600) to pay State Aid, and to the amount of six hundred dol- lars ($600) for Hospital expenses.
Art. 21. Voted that a committee of five be appointed by the chair to confer with the directors of the United Shoe Ma- chinery Co., or any other manufacturing concern, relative to their locating in this town.
Moderator appointed J. W. Colbert, A. E. Avery, Will H. Shaw, Charles W. Clapp, Harrie W. Bosworth as that committee.
Art. 24. Voted, that a committee of three be appointed to investigate the subject relating to an Electric Light Commission and report at some future meeting.

WARRANT FOR TOWN MEETING.
Norfolk, SS. To either of the Constables of the Town of Braintree. Greeting :-
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Braintree, qualified to vote in town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall in said Braintree, on Thursday, the twentieth day of June, 1901, at eight o'clock in the evening, to act on the following articles, namely :
Article 1. To choose a moderator to preside at said meet- ing.
Art. 2. To see if the town will vote to accept the pro- visions of Chapter 462 of the Acts of the Legislature of the year 1893 entitled, " An act to authorize the establishment of a building line on Public Ways."
Act. 3. To see what action the town will take relative to the present unsatisfactory method of street watering.
Art. 4. To see what action the town will take relative to the refusal of the Board of Surveyors of Highways to appoint a Superintendent of Streets, as voted by the town at the annual meeting.
Art. 5. To see if the town will vote to place a fire alarm box at or near the junction of West and Granite streets and appropriate a sum of money for the same.
Art. 6. To see if the town will vote to place a fire alarm box at the corner of Summer and Tremont streets, South Braintree.
Art. 7. To choose or hear the report of any committee.
You are to give notice of this meeting by posting up true

Polling Place in Precinct No. 2, Hose House, Hollis avenue ; Polling Place in Precinct No. 3, Hose House, Allen street ; on Tuesday, the fifth day of November, 1901, at six o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to bring in to the Wardens of their respective Precincts, their votes on one ballot for a Governor of the Commonwealth; Lieutenant Governor; Secretary ; Treas- urer; Auditor; Attorney General; Councillor; Senator; two Representatives in the General Court; two County Commis- sioners for the County of Norfolk; two Associate Commission- ers ; District Attorney ; Clerk of Courts ; and Sheriff.

BRAINTREE, Nov. 5, 1901.
In accordance with the foregoing warrant, the voters assem- bled in the several Precincts to cast their ballots for State and County officers. William H. Cuff was sworn as Warden of Precinct One, Will H. Shaw as Warden of Precinct Two, and Henry M. Storm as Warden of Precinct Three, all by the Town Clerk. The Official Ballots were delivered to each of the Wardens by the Town Clerk and their receipt taken for the same. The polls were opened in each Precinct at six o'clock, A. M. They were closed in Precinct One at 1.30 P. M., Pre- cinct Two at 2 o'clock P. M., and Precinct Three at 1 P. M. At the close of the counting of the ballots, the vote was de- clared, the ballots, etc., sealed up, the returns made up by the Precinct Clerk and forwarded to the office of the Town Clerk, where they were canvassed by the Selectmen and Town Clerk.

STORM SIGNAL.
On very stormy days there will be no session of the Public Schools. This will be announced by 3-3-3 sounded on the fire alarm at 7.15 a. m.
On days when it is moderately stormy or bad walking, there will be no afternoon session. This will be announced by 3-3-3 at 11 a. m.
TUITION OF NON-RESIDENT STUDENTS.
High School, $1 a week; grades 5 to 8, 75 cents a week; grades A and 1 to 4, 50 cents a week.
Non-resident students will not be admitted to any school without the written permission of the Superintendent.

This is my tenth annual report for the year ending January 1, 1902, and the seventeenth of the series of annual reports of the superintendents.
