The town met in accordance with adjournment from April 7th. Moderator Woodsum in the chair.
Article 9. Voted to adopt the recommendation of the appropriation committee, viz., that the fire department be in- structed not to make any payment for the superintendent of fire alarm it being the opinion of the committee that this should be done by the electric light department.

Voted that for the remainder of this Town Meeting, no one shall speak more than twice upon the same subject nor shall he occupy more than fifteen minutes on the same subject; except if it should be necessary for any committee to occupy' more time and speak oftener to explain and advocate its report, it may have additional time and opportunity.
Art. 11. Voted to appropriate for the electric light depart- ment for operating expenses in addition to income, the sum of seventy-five hundred dollars, ($7500).
Voted that the revenue derived from domestic and commer- cial lights, meter rents, and jobbing for the year 1902, be applied to pay four hundred thirty dollars ($430) for the sinking fund, and the balance for operating expenses and connecting new users.
Art. 12. Voted to continue the night police and the sum of twenty-one hundred ninety dollars ($2190) is hereby appropri- ated to pay the same.
Art. 13. Voted to appropriate and pay to Gen. Sylvanus Thayer Post 87, G. A. R., to assist in the services of Memorial Day, the sum of one hundred seventy-five dollars ($175).
Art. 14. Voted to appropriate for hydrant service the sum of forty-six hundred seventy-five dollars ($4675).
Voted that nothing be paid for a hydrant unless the same be flushed once a year.

Art. 23. Voted to appropriate for Soldiers' Relief under Acts of 1890 the sum of six hundred dollars ($600).
For Military Aid under Chapter 372, the sum of seventy-five dollars ($75).
Voted that the Selectmen be authorized to draw orders on the treasurer to the amount of twenty-six hundred dollars to pay State Aid and six hundred dollars for hospital expenses.
Art. 24. Voted to appropriate for court fees and expenses the sum of three hundred dollars ($300).
Art. 30. Voted to appropriate for expenses of tree warden's department the sum of one hundred dollars ($100).
Art. 36. Voted to appropriate for the construction of con- crete or granolithic sidewalks when petitioned for by an abutter or any accepted street of the town, the town and the abutter each to pay one-half the cost of construction of said sidewalks, not exceeding five feet in width. In excess of five feet in width, the abutter shall pay the whole cost of such excess in width the , sum of five hundred dollars ($500). The work done under this vote to be under the direction of, and the width to be approved by the highway department.
Art. 37. Voted to appropriate to build a side walk on Pearl street from the tracks of the N. Y., N. H. & H. R. R. to the junc- tion of Pearl and Fountain streets the sum of three hundred fifty dollars ($350).
Art. 31. Motion made that the drain called for in this arti- cle be built and the sum of two hundred and thirty dollars be appropriated to build the same.
Voted on motion of Mr Colbert to amend tlie foregoing motion as follows, that the appropriation of two hundred thirty dollars be applied to the building of a covered drain through the land of Mr. Monk as far as said sum will go.
Voted to adopt the motion as amended.

BRAINTREE, April 21, 1902.
The town met in accordance with adjournment from April 14th. Moderator Woodsum in the chair.
Article 31 taken up. A motion to reconsider the vote passed at the last meeting to build a covered drain through the land of Mr. Monk. The town refused to reconsider. .
Art. 3. Voted that the Selectmen be, and are hereby in- structed, with the approval of the Board of Engineers of the Fire Department, to keep the fire alarm in operation and to employ any person or persons to perform said work and that the expense of the same be paid out of the appropriation for incidental ex- penses of the Fire Department.
Articles 6 and 34. Voted that the proper officials be in- structed to open the Southeast school, and the following sums are hereby appropriated : One hundred twenty-five dollars ($125) for repairs of schoolhouse and two hundred twenty-five dollars ($225) for opening and maintenance of the school.
Art. 10. Voted to indefinitely postpone all action under this article.
Art. 6. Motion made to appropriate fifteen hundred thirty - one dollars ($1531) for repairs of Union schoolhouse and seven hundred fifty-eight dollars ($758) for repairs of Pond school- house.
An amendment was offered that fifty dollars ($50) be added to the appropriation for Union schoolhouse to build a cesspool.
Voted that the whole subject be recommitted to the Ap- propriation Committee with instructions to report at the next meeting.

Art. 29. Motion made that Section 8 of Article 8 of the Town By-Laws be amended as follows: By adding after the word town in said section, " provided, however, that the Select- men may at the request of seven citizens of the town designate certain streets on which coasting with a sled may be allowed."
Voted to amend the foregoing motion as follows: That the Selectmen be instructed to procure an indemnity bond sufficient to secure the town against loss by reason of said coasting.

The motion to amend the By-Laws which was pending at time of adjournment, was withdrawn by unanimous consent.
Voted to amend Section 8 of Article 8 of the By-Laws, by striking out the words, " coast with a sled or runners" after the word shall in the first line of said section.
Article 3. Voted that a committee of fifteen, to be known as the Appropriation Committee, be appointed by the chair to serve for one year as provided in Section 1, Article 3, of the By-Laws. Charles C. Mellen, William H. Cuff, Charles B. Cum- mings, F. Eugene Dyer, C. Harrison Hobart, Charles W. Clapp, William May, George E. Sampson, Hartley L. White, George E Williams, William Allen, David G. Doane, Nathaniel F. Hunt Charles G. Sheppard and Henry M. Storm were appointed on that committee.
Voted that a committee of nine be appointed by the chair to consider the matter of "old home week" and report at some future meeting of the town. Moderator appointed A. C. Drink- water, Geo. H. Arnold, Geo. O. Wales, Benj. F. Dyer, F. A. Hobart, J. T. Stevens, J. F. Sheppard, T. A. Watson, John Kelley.

Voted that any waste matter about town that is extremely and obviously detrimental to the public health may be removed or destroyed at the expense of the town and the sum of three hundred dollars is appropriated for that purpose, the whole matter to be placed in the hands of the Board of Health with full powers.
Art. 25. Voted to strike out the names of Oakes A. Brig- ham and Sanford P. Record by request, from the jury list pre- sented by the Selectmen.

Art. 6. The Appropriation Committee to whom was re- ferred the matter of repairs of the Union and Pond schoolhouses reported as follows, that the additional sum of eight hundred and seventy dollars be appropriated to be applied as itemized in their written report filed with the Town Clerk and that the matter of a new entrance to the Union school and other im- provements necessary and not already provided for, be referred to a special committee of five to be appointed by the Moderator to report at next Annual Meeting.
Voted that the report be accepted and the recommendations adopted. John W. West, William C. Harding, T. Haven Dear- ing, James W. Colbert, Paul Monaghan were appointed as that committee.
Art. 3. Voted to accept the report of the town officers.
Art. 10. Mr. Abercrombie moved a reconsideration of the · vote passed last meeting to indefinitely postpone action under this article.
Voted that the motion to reconsider be laid on the table.
Art. 3. Voted that the committee on sewerage be con- tinued.
Voted to appropriate the sum of $1200 for expense of con- tagious disease and establishing a pest house.
Voted that $6000 from the Bank and Corporation tax be applied to the foregoing appropriations.
Voted that the town appropriate in the aggregate, $95,724 .- 30 and that $89,724.30 of that amount be raised by taxation.
Voted that the Moderator be allowed until tomorrow to file a list of committees with the Town Clerk.
Voted that this meeting be dissolved.

In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Braintree, qualified to vote in town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall in said Braintree, on Monday, the thirty first day of March, 1902, at seven and one-half o'clock in the evening, to act on the following articles, namely :
Article 1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meet- ing
Art. 2. To see if the town will accept the laying out of Stedman avenue (so called), as a town way as made by the Selectmen, and appropriate a sum of money to build the same.
Art. 3. To see if the town will accept the laying out of Harrison avenue (so called), a's a town way as made by the Selectmen, and appropriate a sum of money to build the same.
You are directed to serve this warrant by posting up attest- ed copies thereof, in nine public places in this town, seven days at least before the time of said meeting, and by publishing the same once in the Braintree Bee.

The town met in accordance with the foregoing warrant ; the meeting was called to order by the Town Clerk at 7.30 o'clock P. M., the warrant was then read and the town proceeded to the election of a Moderator.

Art. 3. To hear the report and recommendations of the committee appointed at the annual meeting relative to an observance of Old Home Week, and take such action thereon as may be deemed proper, and make such appropriation as may be deemed necessary.
Art. 4. To choose or hear the report of any committee and act thereon.
Art. 5. To see if the town will vote to extend the street lighting system through Independence avenue to the Quincy line, and also through Washington street to the line of the Town of Holbrook, and appropriate money for the same.
Art. 6. To see if the town will vote to extend the water system to the line of the Town of Holbrook and make such appropriation as may be necessary for the same.
Art. 7. To see if the town will appropriate the sum of one hundred dollars to be expended in fixing up French's Common.

Art. 3. Taken up. The committee appointed at the annual meeting reported in writing recommending a program for Old Home Week and an appropriation of six hundred dollars for the same. (See files in Town Clerk's office, public document No. 6).
Voted that the sum of six hundred dollars ($600) be appro- priated for an observance of Old Home Week, substantially on the plan reported by the committee appointed at the Annual Meeting that the said sum so appropriated be expended by and be subject to the order of said committee. Sixty-eight voters were present and the vote was unanimous.

Voted to appropriate the sum of forty-eight hundred and fifty dollars ($4850) for expense of widening Washington and Hancock streets, paying land damages, and for curbing from Summer street to Mr. C. H. Hobart's store, on the west side of Washington street.

Article 1. Upon ballot with the use of the check lists, Mr. B. H. Woodsum was elected Moderator and was sworn by the Town Clerk.
Art. 4 taken up. A motion was offered to change the name of the 'street now known as " Stedman avenue " to " Coddington road," which was refused by the town.
Art. 3 taken up. No action was taken under this article.
Art. 2. After a long discussion and several motions and amendments, a vote was taken on the following motion: ' That he town raise and appropriate the sum of three hundred and

fifty dollars in addition to the amount already appropriated for the observance of Old Home Week. Thirty-eight gentlemen voted in the affirmative. The town by-laws requiring a vote of fifty in the affirmative, the Moderator declared the motion rejected.
Voted to adjourn to next Friday at 8 o'clock P. M.

The town met in accordance with adjournment from July Moderator Woodsum in the chair. €
Article 2. Motion made that the town appropriate the sum of two hundred and one dollars ($201) in addition to the amount already appropriated for Old Home Week the same to be expended . by the original committee.
An amendment was offered to the foregoing motion that the sum of one hundred and fifty-one dollars ($151) be appropriated in addition to the above amount to be expended on the Saturday following the official Home Day by a committee of nine to be chosen by this meeting.
Voted to ballot on the question at 8.25 o'clock.
The amendment was carried by a vote of 68 yes to 44 no.
The original motion as amended was then voted by a vote of 75 in the affirmative.
Art. 3. The following committee of nine were chosen as provided by the foregoing vote. Frank W. Jackson, Charles H. Hayward, Frank O. Whitmarsh, Edwin F. Porter, Lewis F. Small, Charles H. Bailey, Arza H. Keith, Daniel Potter, Albert R. Hobart.
Voted that the Selectmen be requested to immediately pro- ceed to have some seats erected on the common.
Voted that this meeting now adjourn.

WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING.
Norfolk, ss. To either of the Constables of the Town of Brain- tree, Greeting :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Braintree, qualified to vote in town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall in said Braintree, on Tuesday, the twenty-eight day of October, 1902, at seven and one-half o'clock in the even- ing, to act on the following articles, namely :
Article 1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meet- ing.
Art. 2. To see if the town will vote to extend the water system through Mayflower Park to the line of the Town of Hol- brook as petitioned for by the residents in that vicinity.
Art. 3. To see if the town will appropriate a sum of money and pay the same to Hiram A. French for land purchased or taken under the Act of the Legislature of 1885, Entitled an Act. to supply the Towns of Braintree, Randolph and Holbrook with water.
