Art. 3. Voted that the Town Treasurer, with the ap- proval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the rev- enue of the municipal year, beginning January 1, 1915, to an amount not exceeding in the aggregate $85,000.00, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year. Any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of said municipal year.


Art. 4. Voted, That the Town Treasurer be and is hereby made custodian of all moneys of the several Depart- ments of the Town. The Board of Water Commissioners are hereby instructed to elect the Treasurer of the Town, Treas- urer of the Water Department. The Selectmen are hereby instructed to require from the Treasurer such a bond as in their judgment is necessary for the safety of such moneys ; That the Treasurer be held harmless on his bond from any loss caused by the failure of any National Bank or Trust Company in which the funds of the Town may be on deposit with the approval of the Board of Selectmen.


Art. 5. A printed report of the Finance Committee was submitted to the meeting through its chairman, Elmer E. Abercrombie.

Article 31. Voted to accept Prospect Street, so called, leading from Fountain Street about 400 feet east, as a Town way as laid out by the Selectmen, and that the sum of $500 be appropriated for the same.


Voted that the name of the above-mentioned street be changed to Victoria Avenue.


Art. 28. Taken up. Motion made to reconsider the vote passed under this article at the last meeting. After a long discussion the motion to reconsider was rejected by a large majority.

The polls were closed at 10.28 o'clock, and the result of the ballot declared, as follows :


James H. Stedman had 65 votes, and was declared elected for the term of three years.


Ray S. Hubbard had 68 votes, and was declared elected for the term of two years.


J. Frederick Kemp had 70 votes, and was declared elected for the term of one year.

WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING.


Commonwealth of Massachusetts.


Norfolk, ss. To either of the Constables of the Town of Braintree, Greeting :


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Braintree, qualified to vote in town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall in said Braintree, on Wednesday, the twenty-sixth day of May, 1915, at 7.45 o'clock P. M., to act on the following articles, viz:


Article 1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.


Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate a sum of money to be used for the extension of water mains.


Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to pay fifty cents per hour for the extra pay of firemen, and raise and appro- priate a sum of money for the same.


You are to give notice of this meeting by posting true and attested copies of this warrant in not less than nine public places in this town, seven days at least before the time of said meeting, and by publishing the same once in the Braintree Observer-Reporter and Braintree Bee.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk before the time of said meeting.

Special Town Meeting, Braintree, May 26, 1915.


In accordance with the foregoing warrant, the Town met at the time and place specified. The meeting was called to order and the warrant read by the Town Clerk.


Article 1. Voted by ballot, with the use of the check lists, for a Moderator.

Voted that this meeting be adjourned to Friday, June 4, next, at 7.45 o'clock P. M.

Article 2. The Appropriation Committee, by its Chair- man, E. E. Abercrombie, reported verbally, with a request that the Town consider the two petitions separately.


Voted to so consider them.


On the petition of E. E. Abercrombie and others, it was voted that if Mr. Hatchard will furnish proper grades and build complete, acceptable to the town, Holmes and Fair- field Streets, as laid out on plan of land divided into house lots and known as Washington Park, located in Precinct Two, and also lay a 6 in. water main 645 ft. on Holmes Street and 340 ft. on Fairfield Street, with a hydrant connected at the ends of each line, the same to be installed under the direction of and satisfactory to the Board of Water Commissioners, that the Town will reimburse Mr. Hatchard for installing said water mains when said streets are accepted by the Town.

On the petition of B. C. Johnson and others,


Voted to instruct the Board of Water Commissioners to extend the water main in Liberty Street from near the house of William Buker to a point near the house of Otto W. Schraeder, if they receive from the owners of the property a satisfactory guarantee to pay 5% annually on the cost of said extension.


Voted that in order to carry out the foregoing vote, the Town Treasurer is hereby instructed that when the Water Board has received the above-named guarantee he shall issue two notes of the Town, one for $2,500 for the term of one year, one for $2,500 for the term of two years, each bearing interest not to exceed 41/2% per annum. Voted by ballot; 63 affirmative, none negative.


Art. 3. Voted to instruct the Chief of the Fire Depart- ment to pay firemen 50 cts. per hour for actual work at fires, provided he does not exceed the appropriation of $400.00 for extra pay of firemen, made at the Annual Town Meeting.
