Article of Amendment.


No person elected to the general court shall during the terni for which he was elected be appointed to any office created or the emolu- ments whereof are increased during such term, nor receive additional salary or compensation for service upon any recess committee or com- mission except a committee appointed to ex- amine a general revision of the statutes of the commonwealth when submitted to the general court for adoption.

Shall the following Article of Amendment to provide for the more efficient administra- tion of the business of the Commonwealth, submitted by the Constitutional Conven- tion be approved and rati- fied ?


Article of Amendment.


On or before Januarv first, nineteen hundred twenty-one, the executive and administrative work of the commonwealth shall be organized in not more than twenty departments. in one of which every executive and administrative office, board and commission, except those of- ficers serving directly under the governor or the council, shall be placed. Such departments shall be under such supervision and regulation as the general court may from time to time prescribe by law.

The polls will be closed at 1.30 o'clock in the afternoon. You are directed to serve this warrant by posting at- tested copies thereof in not less than three public places in each Precinct in said Town seven days at least before said fifth day of November, 1918, and by publishing the same once in the Braintree Observer-Reporter and Braintree Bee,


Hereof fail not and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon to the Selectmen before the time of said election.


Given under our hands at Braintree this 21st day of October, in the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hun- dred and eighteen.

In accordance with the foregoing warrant the voters as- sembled in the several Precincts to cast their ballots for State and County Officers enumerated in the warrant. Also to vote "Yes" or "No" on the several Articles of Amend- ment to the Constitution.


The official ballots were delivered to the several Wardens from the Town Clerk's Office and their receipt taken therefor.


The polls were opened at 5.45 o'clock A.M. and closed at 1.30 o'clock P. M.

At the close of the polls the ballots were counted, record made of the vote for each office and person and also the vote on the various Amendments, and the result declared in each Precinct.


The ballots, check-lists, etc., were sealed, labeled accord- ing to law and the returns forwarded to the Town Clerk's Office where they were tabulated by the Board of Selectmen and Town Clerk and the result of the total vote declared in open meeting.
