Article 1. By ballot Mr. W. F. Rogers was chosen Moderator and sworn by the Town Clerk.


Voted to adjourn to 8:30 o'clock P. M.


At 8:30 o'clock P. M. meeting No. 1 was called ac- cording to adjournment.


Article 2. Voted that Article 2 of both warrants be taken up and considered jointly with all other articles.


Article 3. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $500 to repair the ladder truck and that the Engineers of the Fire Department be instructed to install a governor on the same.


Article 4. Voted to substitute Article 3 of the No. 2 warrant for this article.


Voted to instruct the Selectmen to take by Eminent Domain, a track of land, consisting of twenty-four (24) acres, more or less, situated on the southeasterly side of Liberty Street on Langley Hill, so called, for the purpose of gravel, sand and ledge to be used by the Highway Depart- ment.


Voted to appropriate the sum of two thousand (2000) dollars for the same to be taken from the amount previously appropriated for highways.


Article 5. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of two thousand (2000) dollars for repairs on Shaw Street Bridge, so called, to be expended under direction of the Highway Department.


Article 6. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of twenty-five hundred (2500) dollars, this Town's proportion of the deficit on the South Braintree-Randolph car line.

WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING


Commonwealth of Massachusetts


Norfolk, ss. To either of the Constables of the Town of Braintree, Greeting :


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Braintree, qualified to vote in Town affairs to meet at the Town Hall in said Braintree, on Monday, the 25th day of July, 1921, at 7:45 o'clock in the evening, to act on the following articles, namely :


Article 1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.


Article 2. To hear and act upon the reports of any committee and to choose any committee the Town may think proper.


Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to rescind the vote taken under Article 3 of the Special Town Meeting, held April 11, 1921, whereby the Town voted not to rescind the vote taken at the Town Meeting held March 21, 1921, where- by the Town voted to refer all matters relating to additional schoolhousing to the School Committee and to rescind the vote taken March 21, 1921, on motion of Mr. Emerson, under Article 35, as an amendment to this motion or any motion now before the house, that all action regarding additional schoolhousing be referred to the School Com- mittee with instructions to report on the same at the next Annual Town Meeting.


Article 4. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate such sums as may be necessary for the purpose of construct- ing an addition to the Abraham Lincoln School and for original furnishings and equipment of said addition, such addition increasing the floor space of said building, and authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow all or any part of said sums in accordance with the provisions of any general or special Act authorizing the Town to borrow for such purposes, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of purchasing portable schoolhouses and for the original equipment and furnishing of the same, and authorize the treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow for said purpose or to take any action relative thereto.

raise and appropriate for teachers' salaries and general expenses of the school department,or take any action relative thereto.


Article 7. To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate for repairs, alterations and equipment to school buildings, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 8. To see if the Town will rescind the vote taken at the annual Town Meeting under Article 33, whereby it was voted to discontinue the Continuation School.


Article 9. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for salaries of teachers, and for equipment and supplies, for the Continuation School.


Article 10. To see if the Town will vote to purchase or take land in Precinct Three and erect and furnish a new Grade School Building thereon, and raise and appropriate money for the same.


Article 11. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for use of the School Committee for the purpose of making investigations, and preparing plans with reference to a new High School building, and new grade school building, or additions to present school build- ings in Precinct Three.


Article 12. To see if the Town will purchase or take by Eminent Domain for additional school facilities in Precinct One a certain parcel of property, adjoining the Noah Torrey School property, at the corner of Pond Street and Fairview . Avenue, assessed to Mary Havey, and containing about one and one-quarter acres of land, and raise and appro- priate money for the same.


Article 13. To see if the Town will vote to purchase a stone crusher for the Highway Department, and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the same.


Article 14. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to be used by the Highway Department, to repair the damage done by the recent storm


Article 15. To see if the Town will elect by ballot at the next annual election a moderator for a term of one year to preside at all town meetings, in accordance with General Laws, Chapter 39, Section 14.


You are directed to serve this warrant by posting attested copies thereof in not less than nine public places in said Town of Braintree, seven days at least before the said 25th day of July, 1921, and by publishing the same once in the Braintree Observer.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING


Town Hall, Braintree, July 25, 1921.


In accordance with the foregoing warrant the Town met at the time specified. The meeting was called to order and the warrant read by the Town Clerk.


Article 1. By ballot Mr. W. F. Rogers was chosen Moderator and sworn by the Town Clerk.


Article 15. Voted to take up Article 15.


Voted on motion of Mr. Monk that at the next Annual Election of Town Officers and thereafter annually a Mod- erator shall be elected on the Official Ballot for the term of one year, in accordance with General Laws, Chapter 39, Section 14.


Article 2. Voted that this article be considered in con- nection with all other articles.


Article 3. Indefinitely postponed.

WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING

Article 8. To see if the town will vote to accept the provisions of Sections 42, 43 and 44 of Chapter 48, General Laws of Massachusetts entitled "Fire Departments in cer- tain towns."


Article 9. To see if the town will vote to authorize and instruct the Selectmen to sell for not less than $300.00 at private sale the building known as the Heaney house off Quincy Avenue, located on the Town of Braintree play- ground, Precinct Three, recently purchased from the Watson Hill Development Company.


Article 10. To see what sums of money the town will raise and appropriate for Teachers' Salaries and general expenses of the School Department, or take any action relative thereto.

Article 11. To see if the town will purchase or take by Eminent Domain for additional school facilities in Pre- cinct One, a certain parcel of property adjoining the Noah Torrey School property at the corner of Pond Street and Fairview Avenue, assessed to Mary Havey and containing about one and one-quarter acres of land, and raise and appro- priate money for the same.


Article 12. To see if the town will vote to accept the gift of $500.00 of the late Mary F. White to be expended on the Penniman School Building or grounds.


You are directed to serve this warrant by posting at- tested copies thereof in not less than nine public places in said town of Braintree, seven days at least before said 14th day of November, 1921; and by publishing the same once in the Braintree Observer.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk before said meeting.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING


Town Hall, Braintree, November 14, 1921.


In accordance with the foregoing warrant the Town met at the place specified.


The meeting was called to order at 7:50 P.M. and the warrant read by the Town Clerk.


Article 1. By ballot with the use of the check-lists Mr. William F. Rogers was chosen Moderator and was sworn by the Town Clerk.


Voted on motion of Mr. Abercrombie that the Town Clerk be instructed to convey to the widow and family of the late George E. Fogg the sympathy of the Town in their bereave- ment.

Article 10. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $4,145.00 for general expenses of the School Department and for Teachers' salaries.


Article 11. . Voted that there be raised and appropri- ated the sum of $4,000.00 and that the Town take by Emi- nent Domain for school purposes, the land adjacent to the Noah Torrey School, so called, consisting of about one and one-quarter acres of land, and bounded substantially as follows:


On the North , by Pond Street; on the East and South, by School Property of the Town; on the West by Fairview Avenue.


Article 12. Voted on motion of Mr. Oakman, that the Town hereby accepts the gift of the late Mary F. White, and agrees to the conditions contained in the will, and hereby expresses its appreciation of the generosity of the donor.


Voted to raise and appropriate in the aggregate the the sum of $14,645, 124 voting in the affirmative, none in the negative.


At 9:45 P.M. meeting adjourned, sine die.
