Action of the Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds is goverened by the following two sections of Chapter 41 of the General Laws:


Section 46 .- The town treasurer shall be the custo- dian of all funds and securities of such trust funds, shall invest and reinvest them and expend therefrom moneys as directed by the commissioners. The treasurer shall fur- nish a bond satisfactory to them for the faithful perform- ance of his duties.

Section 47 .- The said board of commissioners shall, so far as consistent with the terms of the trusts, manage and control the same, and distribute the income in ac- cordance with the terms of the respective trusts. The board shall keep a report of its doings, and at the close of each financial year shall make a report to the town, show- ing the total amount of the funds, and their investments, receipts and disbursements on account of the same, set- ting forth in detail the sources of the receipts and the purposes of the expenditures.


Regular monthly meetings of the board have been held. Notices for same are posted with the town clerk in accordance with the law. The minutes of each meeting are kept in a bound record book.


Trust Funds, investments, receipts and disbursements from January 1, 1961 to December 31, 1960 were as fol- lows :


CHARLES EDWARD FRENCH TRUST (Accepted 10/14/07). Income to be expended for three silver medals for each high and grammar school, for best scholarship Principal $2,419.50 savings account, Braintree Savings Bank. Balance of income 1/1/60 $454.80. Income during 1960 was $101.47. Income balance 12/31/60 is $556.27.


NATHANIEL H. HUNT TRUST (Accepted 3/9/08). Income to be expended by Trustees of the Thayer Public Library for books. $3,800.00 Paid-up shares of Braintree Co-operative Bank were sold. The following amounts were withdrawn from savings banks: $2,650.94 from the Quincy Savings Bank, $4,000.00 from the Weymouth Sav- ings Bank, and $9,951.46 from the Braintree Savings Bank. Purchased were $20,000.00 United States Treasury 414% Bonds, due May 15, 1985/75 @ par.
