CLASS ODE
There's a winding path before us ; Obstacles to bar our way, Storm clouds dark may hover o'er us,
Yet some sunshine cheers our day. As we wander in the future, We may turn to view the past ; School days full of work and frolics, How we wished that they might last.
As a rose along the roadside Breathes its perfume on the air : May the fragrance of our good deeds Cheer and brighten everywhere. Some may be like garden beauties, Courted and admired by all ; Some more like the modest white rose, Sheltered by the friendly wall.
Blue the morning sky when starting, Our life's purposes to attain Many times we'll miss the pathway, Onward still will be our aim. As we near the journey's ending, Trials, troubles we'll forget ; May we looking ever westward See the golden bright sunset.
CHORUS
There's more beyond these passing school days, Our work goes on from sun to sun, Proud waves our blue and golden banner, Colors bright of twenty-one.
FLORENCE ELIZABETH ELLIS.
