WATER REPORT.


ENGINEER'S REPORT.


To the Board of Water Commissioners:


GENTLEMEN: I herewith present my report for the year ending December 31, 1896.


The buildings at the Pumping Plant are in good condition.


The pumping-engines, condensers, feed-pumps and boilers are in good condition, and are doing their work in a satis- factory manner.


We have used 93 110-2240 tons of coal, which amount embraces banking fires, keeping up steam, heating the pumping station and pumping.


There has been pumped 27,089.705 gallons of water, as follows :


In January, 1,834,529 gallons. In July. 4.049,800 gallons In February, 1,209,414 gallons. In August, 3,052,665 gallons


In March, 1,158,592 gallons, In September, 2,169,020 gallons.


In April, 1,358,546 gallons. In October, 2,174,405 gallons. In May, 2,588,159 gallons. In November, 2.068,980 gallons.


In June, 3,445,820 gallons.


In December, 1,979,775 gallons.


We have had but four leaks on the main pipes, as follows .: two joint leaks on 10 inch pipe. and one joint leak on 6 inch pipe and one sand hole in 8 inch pipe. There has been eight leaks on service pipes. which were all in the joints.

110 taps have been added the past year, making the total number to date 509, furnishing water as follows:
