TOWN TEAMS.

We had the misfortune to lose one of the horses this year, but have replaced him by a new one which matches very nicely. Would say here that I thank the teamers for care and interest taken in teams, and promptness in hitching out morning and noon, also their readiness to get out any time of night in case of snow.

SOUTH MAIN STREET.

We are again indebted to the Peirce estate for the building of one of the finest streets in this part of the state, a broad avenue, with thirty-three feet in width of macadam with tree space on each side, with circle curbing at corners of streets, with sewer from Courtland to Grove streets, taking care of the water at junction of Courtland and Main streets and Court End avenue and Main st., besides sup- plying a long felt want of the residents along the line, and when the grass starts in the spring it will make an appear- ance that all may be proud of.

This work was begun late in the spring and with the intention of keeping one side of street passable, but upon making a survey it was found that the electric road had not been put in location given it by the town and the delay caused by their relocating tracks made it somewhat incon- venient for public travel, but the improvements made will alleviate all their woes. This improvement will long be

remembered as a gift from the Thomas S. Peirce estate through the courtesy of the trustees and their appreciation of a good road.

TREE WARDEN'S REPORT.

From January 1, 1905 to January 6, 1906.

My work the past year has been trimming and removing both live and dead trees.

I had to remove six on Main street; four live and two dead ones.

We did not spray any trees on the street the past year, as there were very few trees eaten by the elm leaf beetle.

I have only found two nests of the gypsy moth, but there are many brown tail moth's nests in town. I have taken about fifty nests and destroyed them for parties who have called on me to do the work. There are many more that have not been destroyed.

In conclusion I will say that the telephone company has done good work on Oak and South Main streets. They have started in the right direction for protecting the trees. They have removed all the wires and replaced them with a cable.

The next move is to have the electric wires removed, so that they will not interfere with the limbs. I think that this can be done the coming year.

Respectfully submitted,

L. S. BAILEY, Tree Warden.

The management of the farm still remains in the hands of Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Nickerson and the present board of Overseers feel that everything is in safe hands, and that the inmates are as well cared for as it is possible for them to be. There have been no deaths at the farm during the year and the general health of the people there is as good as could be expected considering the advanced age and enfeebled con- dition of most of them.

The expenses of outside poor do not change materially from year to year except where there are cases of pro- tracted illness which is unavoidable.

Respectfully submitted, ANDREW M. WOOD, CHARLES W. KINGMAN, CHARLES M. THATCHER,

Overseers of the Poor.
