PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT, 1949
The Flint Public Library has been open as usual on Tuesday and Saturday evenings 7-9 P. M. and on Saturday afternoons 3-5 P. M.
The librarian has endeavored to assist students with assign- ments and books on the reading lists have been placed in the reading room for the convenience of students. The library has cooperated with the Howe-Manning School in supplying deposits of books for supplementary reading.
Each week during the spring and summer, the late Mr. Alfred B. Harrington presented the library with flowers from his garden, a practice which he has followed for several years. It was his idea to share his garden with others and it gave pleasure to all who visited the library.
Miss Caroline Knight, librarian's assistant and Miss Mary Cronan have rendered valuable assistance to the library during the past year.
In the early spring, a new automatic oil burner was installed, which has proved its worth in comfort and convenience. During the latter part of the year, the stack room and balcony were completely repaired and redecorated which adds to the general appearance of the library as one enters. A new electric clock has also been installed.
