Report of Board of Assessors
To the Citizens of Swampscott:
The Board of Assessors submit the following report for the year 1924 :-
The property in town assessed by the local Assessors April 1, 1924, amounted to $18,634,596, an increase over the previous year (1923) of $949,417. The real estate valuation April 1, 1924, was $17,088,098, an increase over the previous year (1923) of $929,673.
The valuation of personal estate assessed by the local Assessors April 1, 1924, was $1,546,498, an increase over the previous year (1923) of $19,744. The appropriation this year (not bonded) as given to the Assessors, to be raised by taxation and receipts, was $598,959.27, an increase over the previous year (1923) of $5,084.55.
The return of the Income Tax from the State was $57,597.03, a decrease from the previous year (1923) of $3,904.39.
The Tax rate for 1924 was $25 per $1,000, a decrease from the previous year (1923) of $1 per $1,000.
For departmental expenses we recommend a general appropria- tion of $3,100 for the fiscal year 1925.

Gentlemen, I herewith submit my ninth annual report as superin- tendent of Swampscott Cemetery.

I recommend that $100 be appropriated from cemetery perpetual fund for shrubs to be placed around Andrews Memorial Chapel.
