Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4

The care of the inmates, and the management by the Master and Matron, have been very satisfactory to the Overseers, and we think that their continuance in their positions for the coming year will pro- mote the comfort of those under their charge, and the interests of the town.

Five deaths have occurred in the Almshouse during the year, but three of those deceased were persons who had been inmates only a short time, and were sick when admitted, and one other was a person who had reached the ripe age of almost fourscore and ten years. The whole number of paupers in the house during the year has been

29

twenty-seven ; the average number nineteen ; and the number at its close is nineteen. ,

The cost of support for each pauper has been two dollars and eighteen cents per week.

All omissions in the record of marriages previous to 1872 (re- ported to the Town Clerk) have been corrected. Of the 76 inten- tions of marriage issued by the Town Clerk for the past year, only 64 have been returned to this office, which accounts for the non- appearance of names of several parties married during the year 1872.
