GENTLEMEN, - I respectfully submit the following for the year ending Dec. 31, 1888.
The pumps are in good working order and have done their duty well.
The boiler is in good condition. Some slight repairs have been made in the brick-work of fire box ; also a few leaks around the rivet heads and gasket on steam dome have been repaired at a small expense.
Have pumped for seven fires on the following dates : Feb. 1 March 6 and 8, April 5 and 17, May 6 and July 26.
The following table shows the amount of water pumped, coal consumed, etc.

TOWN RECORDS FOR 1888.
WARRANT FOR THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING.
COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS.
NORFOLK, SS. To either of the Constables of the town of Weymouth in said County, GREETING :
In the name of said Commonwealth you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of Weymouth aforesaid, qualified to vote in elections, to meet at the Town House in said town, on Monday, the fifth day of March next, at nine o'clock in the fore- noon, then and there to act on the following articles, viz. : -
ARTICLE 1. To choose a Moderator for said meeting.
ART. 2. By request, to see if the town will revoke its accept- ance of the provisions of Sects. 74, 75, 76, and 77 of Chap. 27 of the Public Statutes, accepted at the last annual March meeting of the town.
ART. 3. To choose all necessary town officers for the ensuing year, and to vote on a separate ballot, Yes or No, " Shall license be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this town?"
ART. 4. To hear and act upon the reports of the several boards of town officers, and of any committee appointed at any former meeting, and to choose any committees the town may think proper.
ART. 5. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the support of public schools.
ART. 6. To see if the town will instruct the School Committee to employ a Superintendent of Schools.
ART. 7. On petition of George C. Torrey, for committee, to see if the town will raise and appropriate a sum of money for the suppression of the illegal sale of intoxicating liquors, and decide in what manner the same shall be expended.
ART. 8. To see what sum the town will vote to raise and

appropriate for the repairs of highways, townways, and bridges, and to determine the manner of expending the same.
ART. 9. On petition of Wilmot Cleverly, to see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of $400 for the purpose of working the widening and straightening of Green Street, from near the house of Francis Fisher to Bridge Street, as laid out by the Select- men and accepted by the town.
ART. 10. By request of the Improvement Association, Ward 3, to see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $300 for the purpose of grading the yard of the Hunt and Lincoln schoolhouses, and constructing a sidewalk along the same.
ART. 11. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,000 for working and repairing Richmond Street, from Washington Street to Webb Street ; also, Keith Street, from Rich- mond Street to Norfolk Street.
ART. 12. On petition of D. J. Pierce and nine others, to see if the town will construct a sidewalk on the easterly side of Webb Street, from Commercial to Broad Street, and raise and appropriate money for the same.
ART. 13. To see if the town will vote to work Winter Street, as laid out by the Selectmen and accepted by the town, and raise and appropriate the sum of $400 for that purpose. .
ART. 14. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $100 for the purpose of rebuilding the wall on Main Street, near Winter Street.
ART. 15. By request of James J. Mahoney, to see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $200 for the purpose of completing the construction of Cain Avenue, as laid out by the Selectmen and accepted by the town.
ART. 16. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $600 for the purpose of working the widening and straightening of East Street, from Union Avenue to a point near the estate late of E. A. Bigelow, as laid out by the Selectmen and accepted by the town.
ART. 17. On petition of Louis A. Cook and eighteen others, will the town vote to build the road called Bates Street, running from Central to Union Street, and appropriate money for the same ?

ART. 18. On petition of George Simes and seventeen others, to see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate money for the purpose of widening and levelling that part of Essex Street beginning near the junction of Spring and Essex and extending south easterly some 350 or 400 feet along said Essex Street.
ART. 19. On petition of E. E. Orr and nine others, to see if the town will vote to straighten and grade the sidewalk on the west side of Middle Street, from the residence of F. H. Cushing to that. of Thomas Orr; also, to extend the sidewalk on the East side, from the residence of W. H. Farmer to that of F. W. Cow- ing, and to raise and appropriate for the same the sum of $300.
ART. 20. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the support of the Fire Department.
ART. 21. By request of the Board of Engineers, to see if the town will vote to establish a system of telegraphic fire alarm, and raise and appropriate money for that purpose.
ART. 22. On petition of William Nash and others, to see if the town will vote to build an engine house on the lot owned by the town in Ward 4, and raise and appropriate the sum of $1,000 for that purpose.
ART. 23. On petition of Oscar Madan and seven others, to see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $10 to each of the firemen for services from May 1, 1887, to May 1, 1888, as per vote of the town at the last town meeting.
ART. 24. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate $150 for the continuation of the sidewalk on Central Street with that from Pleasant Street.
ART. 25. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate $400 for a sidewalk on the 'easterly side of Pond Street, commenc- ing near the depot and extending to as near the connection with Main Street as the amount will work.
ART. 26. By request of Augustus J. Richards, to see if the town will purchase a stone crusher and steam drill, and raise and appropriate such sum of money as may be necessary to pay for the same.
ART. 27. By request of E. S. Beals, to see if the town will comply with the order of the County Commissioners, made in 1874,

to widen, straighten, and work that part of North Street lying be- tween the blacksmith shop and the division line between land of heirs of Thomas Humphrey and heirs of Eliza Burrell, and raise and appropriate money for the same.
ART. 28. To see if the town will accept from E. S. Beals the gift of about four acres of land with large openings on Athens, Bridge, and Sea Streets to be used as a public park and playground for children, and also a sum of money to be used in connection there- with.
ART. 29. On petition of Bradford Hawes and forty others, to see if the town will grant for conveyance the same amount (per capita) to the pupils at Lovell's Corner and vicinity who attend the South High School that is allowed to the pupils at East Weymouth attending the North High School, and raise and appro- priate money for the same.
