ANNUAL TOWN MEETING.
COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS.
NORFOLK, SS. To either of the Constables of the Town of Wey- mouth, in said County. GREETING :-
In the name of said Commonwealth, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of Weymouth aforesaid. qualified to vote in elections therein, to meet at the polling places in their respective voting precincts, to wit :
In precincts numbered One, Three, Five and Six, in the halls of the Fire Engine Houses, located respectively in those precinets ; in precinct numbered Two, at Odd Fellows ' Opera House, and in precinct numbered Four, at the Hose House at Nash's Corner, on Monday, the sixth day of March next, at six o'clock in the fore- noon, then and there to bring in to the Wardens of their several precincts their votes on one ballot, for the following named town officers, to wit: Town Clerk, Town Treasurer, five Selectmen, five Overseers of the Poor, five Assessors, Collector of Taxes, three Auditors, two School Committee for three years, Park Com- missioner for three years. three Trustees of Tufts Library for three years, one Trustee of Tufts Library for one year for the un- expired term of Francis Ambler, deceased, Water Commissioner for three years, one Commissioner for the Sinking Fund of the High School Loan Bonds for three years, and ten Constables ; and also to vote on the same ballot, "Yes" or "No," upon the

question, "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liqaors in this town ?"
The polls will be open at six o'clock in the forenoon and may be closed at one o'clock in the afternoon.
You are further required to notify and warn said inhabitants, qualified to vote as aforesaid, to meet at the Skating Rink in precinct Two, on Monday the thirteenth day of March next, at nine o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to act on the follow- ing articles, namely :
Article 1. To choose a Moderator for said meeting.
Art. 2. To choose all necessary town officers other than those elected by ballot, viz. :-
Public Weighers, Surveyors of Wood, Lumber and Bark, two or more Fence Viewers, two or more Field Drivers, one Pound Keeper.
Art. 3. To hear and act upon the reports of the several boards of town officers, and of any committee appointed at any former meeting, and to choose any committee the town may think proper.
Art. 4. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the support of public schools.
Art. 5. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the transportation of pupils to and from school.
/ Art. 6. To see if the town will vote to instruct the School Committee to employ a superintendent of schools.
Art. 7. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the repairs of highways, townways and bridges, and for the removal of snow.
Art. 8. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the support of the poor.
Art. 9. To see what sum of money the town will vote to appropriate for the payment of state and military aid, under the provisions of Chapters 301 and 279 of the Acts of 1894, and Chapter 561 of the Acts of 1898, and for burials, as provided in

Chapter 279 of the Acts of 1896, and to determine how much of same shall be raised by taxation.
Art. 10. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the relief of disabled soldiers and sea- men, and the families of disabled soldiers and seamen, under Chapter 447 of the Acts of 1890 and Chapter 570 of the Acts of 1898.
Art. 11. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the support of the fire department.
Art. 12. On petition of W. H. Hocking and others : To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate $400 for the pur- pose of constructing a hose tower on the hose house at Nash's Corner.
Art. 13. On petition of John S. Bacon and others : To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,200 for a look and ladder truck in Ward 3.
Art. 14. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for police service.
Art. 15. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the Tufts Library.
Art. 16. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the maintenance of a public reading room in the Fogg Library building.
Art. 17. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for abatement and remittance of taxes.
.Art. 18. To see what sum of money the town will vote raise and appropriate for the payment of interest that may become dne the ensuing year.
Art. 19. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for printing and advertising.
Art. 20. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for miscellaneous expenses.
Art. 21. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the payment of town officers.

Art. 22. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for election expenses.
Art. 23. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for Memorial Day.
Art. 24. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for care and repair of the Town House.
Art. 25. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for electric lighting.
Art. 26. To see if the inhabitants will authorize the Town Treasurer to borrow such sums of money, in anticipation of taxes as will be found necessary to meet the current expenses of the year.
Art. 27. To see if the town will vote to appropriate from the revenue of the Water Works for the current year the sum of $25,200 to be expended for the following purposes, viz : $17,800 for interest on the Weymouth Water Loan Bonds becoming due the ensuing year, $2,700 for salaries of the Superintendent of the Works and Engineer at the Pumping Station, $1,700 for mainten- ance of the Works, and $3,000 for all necessary expenses.
Art. 28. To see if the town will vote to appropriate and direct to be paid to the trustees of the Sinking Fund, out of the income of water rents for the current year, the sum of $8,900 to be set apart and invested as a Sinking Fund for the payment at matur- ity of the principal of the Weymouth Water Loan Bonds.
Art. 29. To see if the town will vote to appropriate the sum of $3,000 for the purpose of extending the main water pipe line.
Art. 30. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for hydrants, and for water rent and care of drinking fountains.
Art. 31. On petition of the Park Commissioners : To see what sum the town will raise and appropriate for the care and improvement of the public parks of Weymouth.
Art. 32. On petition of the Park Commissioners : To see what sum the town will raise and appropriate for the purpose of

working the street laid out and accepted, running to the summit of Great Hill.
Art. 33. On petition of John Taylor and others : To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $300 or such other sum as may seem necessary for the purpose of build- ing and extension and hose tower on the hose house at Weymouth Heights.
Art. 34. On petition of J. C. Howe : To see if the town will vote to hold its annual town meeting the first Monday in March, and to choose its town officers the following Monday, or act in any manner in relation to the same.
Art. 35. On petition of M. W. Lynch and others : To see if the town will instruct the Board of Selectmen to pay $2.00 per day to all able-bodied men for work performed by the Town, whether by contract or otherwise, and preference to be given to citizens and tax payers, and that nine hours shall constitute a days work.
Art. 36. To see what sum. of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the purpose of rebuilding the retaining wall and sidewalk on Bridge street easterly from the Pine Point House.
Art. 37. On petition of Matthew Morrow and others : To see if the town will appropriate the smin of $40 to pay to J. Walter Curtis for land taken for widening a new street leading of Pleas- ant street.
Art. 38. On petition of Franklin H. Barnes and others : To see if the town will vote to establish and maintain four incandes- cent lights on Summer street south of Federal street, the expense of which shall be drawn from the annual appropriation for electric lighting.
Art. 39. To see if the town will anthorize and empower its Treasurer to take, in its name and behalf, all necessary action to foreclose a mortgege on the real estate of the late Fernanda A. White, in which mortgage the town of Weymouth is named as mortgagee, and in which default has been made in the payment

of the moneys thereby secured : and also to fully execute in the name and behalf of said town the powers of sale therein con- tained.
Art. 40. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate toward the sinking fund, for the payment at maturity of the High School bonds.
Art. 41. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $5.500 for the payment of a note due March 10, 1899.
Art. 42. To see what provision the town will make for the payment of a note for $12,000, due May 1, 1899.
Art. 43. To see what provision the town will make for the payment of a note for $15,000 due January 1, 1900.
Art. 44. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate, or will appropriate, to provide for any deficiencies in the appropriations of the current year, or for any overdrafts already made.
Art. 45. To determine in what manner taxes shall be col- lected the ensuing year, and to fix the rate of interest upon all taxes remaining unpaid after the time fixed for payment.
Art. 46. To see if the town will recommend the granting of sixth class licenses to all druggists in the town, or act in any manner in relation to the same.
Art. 47. To see if the town will accept the list of jurors as prepared by the Selectmen.
Art. 48. To see if the town will elect to contract with the Masaachusetts Highway Commission for the construction of any portion of Washington or Main street which may be accepted as a State Highway, or act in any manner in relation thereto.
Art. 49. On petition of Patrick Moriarty and others : To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $400 to finish the working of Phillips street extension to Summit street as already laid out by the Selectmen.
Art. 50. On petition of Maurice Kennedy and others : To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $300 for the completion of Summit street.

Art. 51. To see if the town will accept the report of the Selectmen on the laying out of an extension of Granite street to Summit street.
Art. 52. To see if the town will accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out of a new street from a point on Middle street to a point on Broad street over the private ways of William Donovan and Michael Sheehy.
Art. 53. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the construction of a new street from Middle street to Broad street, as per article 52.
Art. 54. On petition of Warren Nadell and others : To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate $350 for the purpose of gravelling that part of Summer street between the house of A. D). Tirrell and the house of John R. Bouldry.
Art. 55. On petition of James F. Williams and others : To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum sufficient to repair and put in good condition the sidewalk on Sea street, Ward One, from the residence of Frank Alden to the corner of Bridge and Sea streets and to devote to said purpose the sum so raised and appropriated.
Art. 56. To see if the town will accept the name of Canter- bury street for the new street leading from Pleasant street near the house of Matthew Morrow.
Art. 57. To see if the town will accept the name of Wessa- gusset street for the new street leading from Lovell street to Great Hill Park.
And you are directed to serve this warrant by posting attested copies thereof in three publie places in each preeinct in said town seven days at least before the said sixth day of March next. Hereof fail not and make due return of this warrant, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, on or before the third day of March next. Given under our hands at Weymouth, this twentieth
