ARTICLE 30. (By Direction of Selectmen). To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $200.00 to be expended under the direction of the Board of Selectmen for the purpose of stocking the ponds and inland waters, located within the Town limits, with fish, and of liberating game, all in accordance with General Laws (Ter. Ed.) Chapter 40, Section 5, Clause 41 or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 31. (By Direction of Selectmen). ANNUAL TOWN MEETING March 5, 1945
Pursuant to a warrant duly issued, the Annual Meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of Weymouth, represented by its duly elected and qualified Town Meeting Members was held in the hall of the Weymouth High School, East Weymouth, Monday, March 5th, 1945.
208 Town Meeting Members were present.
The meeting was called to order at 7:53 o'clock in the evening by Mr. William J. Holbrook, Annual Moderator.
The attested copy of the warrant was read by Acting Town Clerk, Miss Nellie L. Greaney.
Judge Kenneth Nash moved:
That we suspend with the reading of the articles in the warrant. So voted unanimously.
Town meeting Members not having been previously sworn in to the duties of their office were duly sworn in at this time by the Moderator.
The Rev. Father Patrick Walsh, Pastor of St. Francis Xavier Church of South Weymouth was called upon by the Moderator to invoke the Blessing of the Ruler of the Universe upon the deliberations of the meeting.
The Moderator then called for consideration of the articles in the warrant

That the report of the Appropration Committee containing its motions to be offered at this meeting, as shown in the printed form be now recorded as received. So voted unanimously.

ARTICLE 1. To provide for all expenses of maintenance and operation of each of the Town's several departments and activities for the fiscal year, for certain improvements, and to meet certain requirements of the law, the several sums hereinafter set forth are hereby appropriated for the several pur- poses and subject to the conditions specified, all such sums to be raised by taxation in the levy of the current year unless some other source of revenue is expressed.
Item 1. For personal services and expenses of the Appropria- tion Committee
Of this sum $100.00 is reserved for a special Town Meeting and $ 675.00
not exceeding $450.00 shall be for personal services of the Secre- tary of the Committee who may be a member thereof. Unanimously and tentatively adopted.
Mr. George E. Lane for the Appropriation Committee moved: $ 4,750.00 Item 2. For the Selectmen's Department
Of this sum not exceeding $500.00 shall be for personal services of the Clerk who may be a Selectman, and $625.00 is provided expressly for expenses of the Rationing Board.

and $350.00 is expressly provided for a photostat machine with supplies.

Of this sum not exceeding $5,660.00 shall be for personal services of the Department.

The compensation of the Tax Collector shall be five and three quarter mills on each dollar of taxes collected, and the Selectmen are authorized and instructed to insure the Tax Collector in the sum of $15,000.00 robbery insurance.

Of this sum not exceeding $195.83 shall be for personal services of the Board to March 15, 1945. For the balance of the year pro- vision is made herein for the personal services of a secretary of the Board, who may be a member thereof at the rate of $50.00 per year.
For miscellaneous expenses of the Board including postage and stationery a sum not exceeding $100.00; .
For Dairy and Food Inspections, posting contagious disease cases, and investigations of nuisances and menaces harmful to health a sum not exceeding $2,418.00 for a full time Health Agent at the rate of $2,500.00 per year. An amount not to exceed $320.00 of this former sum is for travel expense of the Agent. Provided further that the Agent shall not be a member of the Board.
For payments as required to the Norfolk County Tuberculosis Hospital and other hospitals the sum of $7,000.00;
For Quarantine and Contagious Disease cases not exceeding $500.00;
For maintenance of the Town Dumps a sum not exceeding $1,850.00, providing that not exceeding $1,620.00 of this amount shall be for personal services;
For Plumbing Inspections, the sum of $2,00.00, provided that the services and all expenses of the Plumbing Inspector shall not exceed an amount equal to that collected for all plumbing permits plus $400.00;
For the services and auto expenses of ,a Dental Hygienist, a sum not exceeding $1,500.00;
For Dentists and Dental supplies, a sum not exceeding $1,500.00; For conducting the Diphtheria Clinic, a sum not exceeding $250.00;
For the protection of the public from rabies, a sum not exceeding $150.00;
For returns to Undertakers, a sum not exceeding $100.00;
For dog bite cases and serum, a sum not exceeding $200.00;
And for burying animals, a sum not exceeding $600.00.
Mr. Thomas McDonald of the Board of Health moved the fol- lowing amendment:
That the amount be increased by $900.00 to give $300.00 to each member of the Board of Health for their services.
Vote taken and amendment was lost.

Item 26. For Garbage Removal
The Board of Selectmen is authorized to contract for the disposal of garbage from April 1, 1945, to April 1, 1946, and in addition to this sum the Board of Selectmen may use whatever unexpended balance remains in the existing appropriation from prior years for the same purpose.

Mr. George E. Lane for the Appropriation Committee moved: Item 27. For Public Welfare $ 93,636.00
Of this entire appropriation the sum of all expenses of adminis- tration, including automobile allowances for investigators, but excepting the Town Infirmary, shall not exceed $7,236.00, of which sum not more than $5,488.00 shall be for personal services and $500.00 shall be for miscellaneous administrative expense. Of this administration sum $984.00 in addition to $2,016.00 of the appro- priation for administration under Item 28 aggregating and not ex- ceeding $3,000.00 shall be for the salary of the Welfare Agent appointed under the provisions of Chapter 7, Acts of 1938, and from the sum for administration the Town Accountant shall transfer to the Town's general fund an amount equal to whatever monies are made available by the State or Federal Government for any administrative expense for the fiscal year under this item. $40,000.00 shall be for the Aid to Dependent Children;
$7,400.00 shall be for Administration and all expenses of the Town Infirmary ;
$10,000.00 shall be for reimbursement to other cities and towns for relief provided by them to persons having a legal settlement in this town;
$29,000.00 shall be for relief of persons having a legal settlement in this town, or the relief of persons not having a legal settlement in the town.
Provided that any portion of the total appropriation for Public Welfare under this item may be made available for any Welfare items, if and when approved by the Appropriation Committee. Unanimously and tentatively adopted.
Mr. George E. Lane for the Appropriation Committee moved: Item 28. For Old Age Assistance under Genearl Laws (Ter. Ed.) Chapter 118A as amended $ 151,077.00
Of this entire appropriation the sum for all expenses of adminis- tration, including automobile allowances for visitors, shall not exceed $7,077.00, of which sum not more than $5,926.00 shall be for personal services and from this sum of administration $2,016.00 is allocated to and appropriated under Item 27 for services of the Welfare Agent set up under Chapter 7 of the Acts of 1938. From the administration figure the Town Accountant shall transfer to the Town's general fund an amount equal to whatever monies are made available by the State or Federal Government for any administrative expense for the fiscal year under this item.

Wages and salaries to be in accordance with schedule given to the Appropriation Committee dated December 26, 1944.
