ART. 6. To see if the town will suthorize their Treasurer to hire money to pay all demands in anticipation of taxes.
VOTED. That the Treasurer be authorized, with the appro- val of the Selectmen, to hire money in anticipation of the taxes of the current year, and to issue notes of the town therefor, and the debts incurred under authority of this vote are hereby made payable from said taxes.
ART. 7. To raise and appropriate money for the payment of town debt and interest.
VOTED. That the town raise and appropriate the sum of five thousand dollars for the payment of the Town Debt, and the sum of three thousand two hundred dollars for the payment of interest on loans to the town. ART. 8. To raise and appropriate money for Schools.

ART. 21. To see what method the town will adopt for the collection of taxes for the year ensuing.
VOTED. That the same method be adopted the coming year for the collection of taxes as voted last year. (Sec Annual Report of 1884, page 14. ).
ART. 22. To see if the town will authorize their Collector ot Taxes for the year ensuing to use all means for the collection of taxes which a Town Treasurer when appointed Collector may use.

ART. 29. To see if the town will vote to change the time for the ending of the year of service of the fire department from the first day of May next ensuing to the first day of February, A. D. 1885, and thereafter to commence their annual term of service from the first day of February in each year in order that their expenses may be shown in the annual town report the same year as incurred, as permitted by section thirty- eight and section thirty-nine of the Public Statutes of the Commonwealth.
VOTED. That the ensuing year of the Fire Department commencing on the first day of May next, bc ended on the first day of February, A. D. 1885, and thereafter to commence and end the annual term of service on the first day of February in cach year, that their expenses may be shown in the Annual Town Reports the same year as incurred.
ART. 28. To determine the compensation of Enginemen for the year ensuing.
VOTED. That the compensation of Enginemen be fixed at $12, and a sum equal to their poll tax for the ensuing year.
ART. 30. To see if the town will instruct. the Selectmen to appoint three Engineers for the Centre Ward, and one for each of the outer wards, and direct the Engineers to examine and see to being in good order all the town Johnson pumps located in their district twice a year in the months of May and Novem- ber, and report the condition of the same in writing to the Selectmen.
VOTED. To indefinitely postpone.
ART. 31. To see if the town will instruct the Chief Engineer to examine each hydrant twice in each year in the months of May and November, and report in writing to the Selectmen whether or not the same are in efficient condition for their designed use.

ART. 32. To see if the town will instruct the Engineers to make any change in the Fire Department, or what they will do about it. VOTED. To indefinitely postpone.
ART. 33. To see if the town will buy one thousand fect of hose for the use of the Fire Department and raise and appropriate money therefor, or what they will do about it.
VOTED. To buy the same and raise and appropriate the sum of nine hundred dollars therefor.
ART. 24. To see if the town will buy a Lowry hydrant head, and raise and appropriate money therefor, or what they will do about it.
VOTED. To buy the same and raise and appropriate the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars therefor.
ART. 35. To see if the town will authorize and direct the Engineers to make a sale of any of the property owned by the town in the Fire Department, such as engines, houses, &c., or what they will do with regard to the use that shall be made of them, or what they will do about it.
VOTED. That the Enginemen be instructed to sell any prop- erty that is not needed or likely to be needed, now belonging to the Fire Department.
ART. 36. To see if the town will sell the Yale engine, or what they will do about it.
VOTED. That the Engineers be instructed to advertise and sell the Yale engine on the best terms they can obtain.
ART. 37. To see if the town will provide the Hook and Ladder Company's carriage with five Johnson pumps, with coupling attachment and three hundred feet of hose of the size to attach to the common size faucets in dwelling-houses ; the hose to be in sections of twenty-five feet, each piece to be furnished with couplings, and raise and appropriate money therefor, or what they will do about it.

At that hour the meeting was called to order by the Moderator and took up Article 38.
ART. 38. To see if the town will instruct the Engineers to enter upon their records the names of all persons who may attend any ·fires in town bringing and using a Johnson pump and bucket and reporting themselves in person to any one of that Board ; and if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of one hundred dollars to be distributed among such Johnson pump men on the "marking system," each man to receive one mark for each attendance at fires, and to be paid pro rata to his number of marks or what they will do about it.
VOTED. To indefinitely postpone.
ART. 39. To see if the town will take further action with regard to the standing vote of instructions to the Selectmen, voted April 7, A. D., 1873, to the effect that "all appropriations voted shal! end annually with the closing of the town accounts," and will so amend that vote as to read that there shall be excepted all appropriations not fully expended, for which written contracts have been heretofore made and not terminated. and. contracts whereby funds have been heretofore hired on a term of years, the contracts for which are not terminated for which such funds have been hired, and also all appropriations here- tofore authorized to be hired to meet the requirements of the bequest of Cornelius Sweetser to this town for the purposes of a public park, or what action it will take in the matter.
VOTED. On motion of James F. Emerson, to amend the instructions to the Selectmen, in accordance with the terms of the above article.
ART. 40. To see if the town will provide a penalty for the overdraw- ing of orders on the Treasurer, by the future town officers, of the amount of each appropriation authorized by vote of the town, or what they will do about it.
VOTED. That the Selectmen be instructed not to draw any order on the Treasurer in excess of the appropria- tion authorized by vote of the town.
VOTED. That no person shall be allowed to speak more than three times on any one subject, or more than ten minutes at any one time.

ART. 41. To see it the town will raise and appropriate the sum of twenty-five dollars for the use of the Fish Committee.
VOTED. The sum of twenty-five dollars for use of Fish Committee.
ART. 42. To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of two hundred dollars for the expenses of Memorial Day.
VOTED. The sun of two hundred dollars for Memorial Day expenses.
ART. 43. To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of one hundred dollars to defray the expenses of transportation of four pieces of cannon, donated by Congress to this town, from Governor's Island, New York, to Wakefield, or what they will do about it.

ART. 44. To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of five hundred dollars to enforce the liquor law in Wakefield, or what they will do about it.

ART. 46. To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars for the purpose of putting in a set of hay scales for public use, or what they will do about it.

ART. 47. To see if the town will grade Pleasant street from Salem to Eaton street and raise and appropriate one hundred dollars therefor, or what they will do about it.

To see it the town will authorize additional street lamps to be placed upon Railroad street between Yale Avenue and Deadman's Crossing (so called) and to a point where said Railroad street intersects with Linden street, and raise and appropriate a sum of money therefor, or what they will do about it.

ART. 51. To see if the town will purchase additional Johnson pumps to be located about the town in the same manner and subject to the same conditions as those now owned by the town, and raise and appropriate a sum of money therefor, or what they will do about it.

To see if the town will appoint and authorize a Committee to act in conjunction with the Engineers in providing an independent steam whistle or bell, for giving some system- atic fire alarm signal, said bell or whistle to be located by said Committee and Engineers in some central locality, or what they will do about it.
VOTED. To appoint a Committee of three to investigate the practicability and cost of such a fire alarm as pro-

posed in Art. 53, said Committee to report at the next town meeting.
A. H. Thayer. Geo. H. Sweetser and A. W. Brownell were appointed on this Committee.
ART. 54. To see if the town will vote to enter into a contract with the Wakefield Water Company for additional fire hydrants, determine the number and location thereof, fix the terms, conditions and duration of said contract, and choose a Com- mittee to execute the same, and to take any other and further action which the town may deem expedient in rela- tion thereto.

That the whole subject be indefinitely postponed.
ART. 55.
To see if the town will vote to enter into a contract with the Wakefield Water Company, fix the terms, conditions and duration of said contract for one additional fire hydrant to be placed at the corner of Maple and Foundry streets, and one additional fire hydrant to be placed on Foundry street, opposite the engine room of the Smith and Anthony Stove Company, and three additional fire hydrants to be placed upon Main street in Greenwood, and three additional fire hydrants to be placed upon Richardson street, and three additional fire hydrants to be placed upon Vernon street, between Salem street and Cordis street, and for the water to be used in two public drinking fountains, and choose a Committee to execute the same, and to take any other and further action which the town may deem expedient in rela- tion thereto.

To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars for the purchase and erection of two public drinking fountains, one to be located upon Main street near to the southerly end of the public common, and one near the upper depot, or what they will do about it.

VOTED. ART. 57. To see if the town will raise and appropriate money for finishing, furnishing and heating the new Hamilton School Building, anl for fencing and grading the premises con- nected with the same, or what they will do about it.

for finishing, furnishing and heating the new Hamilton School Building, and for fencing and grading the premises connected therewith. That one-half the sum be raised with the taxes of the present year, and the balance with the taxes of next year, and that the Treasurer be authorized to hire the money in anticipation of the taxes as herein specified.
ART. 58. To see if the town will build a common sewer from Cres- cent street, near to Main street, to, and to connect with the brook near the Centre Depot, and appropriate a sum of money sufficient for the same, or what they will do about it.
VOTED. To indefinitely postpone.
ART. 59. To see if the town will authorize any improvement to be made in the town hall stage, and make an appropriation therefor, or what shall be done about it.
VOTED. That a committee of three be appointed by the chair to take this matter into consideration and report at a future meeting. Chair appointed on this committee, Jacob C. Hartshorne, Wm. K. Perkins and I. A. Parsons.
ART. 60. To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of five hundred dollars to finish off a room in the basement of the town hall, to be used for the purposes of a supper room when the hall is let for assemblies, balls, fairs, &c., or what shall be done about it.
VOTED. To indefinitely postpone.
ART. 61. To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars to build a suitable building for the storage of town tools, when the same are not in use, or what shall be done about it.
