ART. 10. To hear and act upon the report of the committee ap- pointed at the annual meeting to take into consideration the matter of providing new seats for the Town Hall. The Committee reported in favor of a certain seat, costing $1.95 cach.

TOWN MEETING, NOV. 8, 1887.
STATE ELECTION.
Pursuant to a warrant for a meeting for the election of State and County officers, and for the transaction of town business, the qualified voters of the town met at the Town Hall at 7 o'clock in the forenoon. The meeting was called to order and the warrant read by Samuel K. Hamil- ton, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen. Prayer was of- fered by Rev. D. S. Coles.

Chas. H. Davis was appointed to assist in checking names on the voting lists, and R. L. Cooper and W. W. Bessey to operate the ballot box, all being sworn by the Chairman. The polls were then declared open.
VOTED. That the polls be kept open until 4.25 P. M. At that time the polls were closed, the register on the ballot box showing 1081 votes cast; (actual number 1077).
After sorting and counting the votes declaration was made of the

At 6.15 P. M. the meeting, so far as related to the election of State and County officers, was dissolved. At 7 o'clock the meeting was called to order for the transaction of town business.
ARTICLE 1. To choose, by ballot, a Moderator to preside in said meeting.

VOTED. To instruct the Town Clerk to cast one ballot for Samuel K. Hamilton, and he was declared elected Moderator.

ADJOURNED TOWN MEETING, NOV. 14, 1887.
Called to order by Moderator, Sam'l K. Hamilton.
ART. 2. To act upon the acceptance of the List of Jurors, as se- lected and submitted by the Selectmen, in compliance with law.
VOTED. To accept the List of Jurors as prepared.
ART. 3. To see if the town will appropriate $205 to settle the suit of Maria J. Carpenter against the town, the same being the amount agreed upon by the committee appointed at the last town meeting.
VOTED. To appropriate $30 to settle said suit, and $175 to pnt the bank of the road in suitable condition, the work to be done and paid for by Mrs. Maria .. J. Carpenter, to the satisfaction of the County Com missioners.
ART. 4. To see if the town will appropriate additional money for the care of stseet lamps and cost of lighting.
VOTED. $600, additional.
ART. 5. To see if the town will erect a Soldiers' Monument, and appropriate a sum of money for the same, or what they will do about it.
VOTED. To refer this article to a committee of seven, (four of whom shall be soldiers) to report at the next annual meeting.

ART. 6. To see if the town will release H. M. Warren Post 12, from paying for the use of the Town Hall on the evenings of October 27, 28, 29 and 31, occupied for holding a fair to replenish its Charity Fund.

ART. 7. To see if the town will authorize a street lamp to be placed upon the corner of Common and Lafayette streets.
VOTED. To instruct the Selectmen to place a light there.
ATR. 8. 'To see if the town will authorize a street lamp to be placed upon the corner of Valley and Hart streets.
VOTED. To indefinitely postpone action.
ART. 9. To hear and act upon the report of the committee ap- pointed at the last annual meeting to consider the matter of introducing electric lights.
The committee reported that electric lights would cost nearly double the price of gas, and that it was advisable to wait for the further development of the various systems of electric lighting before taking action.
VOTED. To accept and adopt the report.
VOTED. To dissolve this meeting.
