Meeting called to order at 2:10 P.M. by Stuart M. Briggs, Moderator. There were 196 town meeting members present. Harold L. Hoxie and Wendell T. Eldredge were sworn in as tellers.


Invocation was given by Reverend Thomas Lyons of the Sacred Heart Monastery, Fairhaven, Mass.

"Resolved-that a cost of living bonus be paid from January 1, 1950 to December 31, 1950 to each of the regular town employees now on the list supplied to the Finance Committee by the Selectmen's Office. The maximum bonus to amount to 10% of the employees' 1948 earnings from the town or $200.00, whichever is the lesser amount. However, in cases where there are automatic increases or step-up raises this bonus shall be the difference between the amount of such a raise and 10% of the employees' 1948 earnings, but in no case shall the total of the increase or step-up raise plus the bonus exceed $200.00. The bonus shall be distributed equally over the regular paydays of each employee."

VETERANS' MEMORIAL


ARTICLE 48. Voted at last week's meeting to take up this week. Article not adopted; 66 in favor,-74 opposed.


BAND SHELL (World War I Memorial)


ARTICLE 49. Motion made and seconded that recommendation of the Finance Committee not to erect a band shell as a World War I Memorial. So voted.


WATER EXTENSION


ARTICLE 50. Unanimously voted to transfer the sum of $10,280. from the Water Loan Account to install water on the following streets : 10,280.00


Bernese St., west from Neck Rd. to Torrington Rd. Raymond St., west side from Neck Rd. to Tor- rington Rd.


Austria Ave. from Neck Rd. to water front. Timothy St. east from Neck Rd. to intersection of Paul St. Grape St. east side distance of about 470 feet. Although Timothy St. had not been accepted, town has easements.
