Special Town Meeting JANUARY 25, 1951
Meeting opened at 7:40 P.M. with 173 Town Meeting Members present. James L. Parkinson and Harold L. Hoxie sworn in as tellers.
REPORT OF SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE
ARTICLE 1. Motion made and seconded that the printed report of the committee which has been dispensed to each Town Meet- ing Member be received by this meeting.
Unanimously voted.
ADDITIONS TO SCHOOLS
ARTICLE 2. Unanimously voted to transfer $20,643.35 from the unex- pended balance of moneys appropriated at the adjourned Town Meeting of March 18, 1950, under Article 81, and the sum of $24,356.65 be appropriated from available funds in the treasury; and that the Treasurer, with approval of Selectmen, be authorized to borrow $650,000.00 under authority of Chapter 380 of the Acts of 1950, and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor payable in accord- ance with the provisions of said Chapter 380 and of Chapter 44 of the General Laws, so that the whole loan shall be paid in not more than 20 years from the date of issue of the first bond or note.

SCHOOL CONTRACTS
ARTICLE 3. Unanimously voted that the School Building Committee be and hereby is authorized to make and carry out all contracts necessary to plan and equip additions to the Oxford and East Fairhaven Schools including such author- izations as may be required in connection with the con- struction and to take such necessary action to equip as herein authorized.
LAND FOR SCHOOLS
ARTICLE 4. Unanimously voted that the Park Department and the Board of Selectmen grant the School Department right to use land as required for additions to the East Fairhaven and Oxford Schools.

AMENDMENTS TO THE ZONING ACT
ARTICLE 5. Unanimously voted to adopt with amendment the follow- ing Article :
To see if the town will vote to amend the Zoning Map by changing from a Residence District to a Business District, with set-backs, property on the easterly side of Park Street, 152 feet in depth, from the north line of Deane Street to the south line of Morton Street, as peti- tioned by Virginia Marshall, and in accordance with a plan filed with the Planning Board by the petitioner. Amended to include twenty (20) foot set-back on Morton, Deane and Park Streets.
ARTICLE
6. To see if the town will vote to amend the Zoning Map by extending the existing Business District on the easterly side of Huttleston Avenue to include, with set-back, prop- erty at the northwesterly intersection of Huttleston Avenue and Spring Street, 780 feet more or less on Hut- tleston Avenue and 120 feet more or less on Spring Street, as petitioned by Jacintho Vieira, in accordance with a plan filed with the Planning Board by the petitioner.
Motion made and seconded article be adopted.
Amended to include twenty (20). foot set-back on Spring Street and Huttleston Avenue. Attorney Quinn, repre- senting Robert and Elizabeth Packard, said it is not an extension of a business zone, and people in the neighbor- hood object. The Planning Board considers this is an extension of a business zone. If it is entirely business on one side it is logical to put business on the other side.
Their board favors the change of zone.
Vote 62 in favor, 74 opposed. Article lost.
ARTICLE
7. To see if the town will vote to amend the Zoning Map by extending the existing Business District on the easter- ly side of Middle Street to include, with set-back, 119 feet more or less on the easterly side of Middle Street, starting at a point 101 fet more or less from Bridge Street and 81 feet more or less in depth, as petitioned by Augustus H. Xavier and others, in accordance with a plan filed with the Planning Board by the petitioners.

Annual Town Meeting MARCH 3, 1951
Meeting called to order at 1:40 P.M. Invocation was given by Rev. William West of the Church of the Good Shepherd, North Fairhaven, Mass. There were 311 Town Meeting members present. Stuart M. Briggs, moderator. James Parkinson and Louis T. Boroski, also Harold L. Hoxie, were sworn in as tellers.
Voted unanimously that the meeting be adjourned at 6:00 P.M. until the following Saturday, March 10, 1951 at 1:30 P.M.
Voted unanimously that all appropriations made on warrant be placed in the Tax Levy of 1951, unless otherwise stated.
MEASURERS OF WOOD AND BARK
ARTICLE 1. Voted unanimously to instruct the Selectmen to appoint measurers of wood and bark.
ACCEPTANCE OF REPORT
ARTICLE 2. Voted unanimously to accept the annual report of the Town Officers.
TOWN CHARGES
ARTICLE 3. The following sums of money were raised and appropriated to defray the town charges for the ensuing year :
1.) Schools. Unanimously voted to appropriate the sum of $340,000.00 plus $1920.98 (Dog Fund) ; sum of $200. for out of state travel, included, for Ele- $340,000.00 mentary and High Schools. plus 1,920.98
2.) Selectmen's Office Expense.
Unanimously voted to appropriate the sum of $4,700.00 for Selectmen's Office Expense. 4,700.00
3.) Treasurer's Office Expense.
Unanimously voted to appropriate the sum of $3,000.00 for Treasurer's Office Expense. 3,000.00
