Public Library.


During the past year $100 has been taken from the Dog fund and $20 has been given by the Herald Dramatic Club for the purchase of books. The thanks of the Town are due this Club for their generous donation. If all citi- zens of Dighton would help in this or a similar manner the Library could be made of great benefit to the Town and one of the best in the smaller towns of the State.

ANNUAL REPORT.


Town Meeting.


To be held March 6th, at 9 a. m , in Town Hall to act on the following articles :


1st. To choose a Moderator.


2d. To hear the annual reports of the Town Officers and act thereon.


3d. To hear the report of the Auditor and act thereon.


4th. To choose all necessary Town Officers for the year ensuing, including an Auditor and to vote "Yes" or "No" on the question, "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this Town ?"


5th. To raise such sums of money as may be neces- sary to defray Town charges for the year ensuing and ap- propriate the same.


6th. To raise and appropriate a sum of money for highways, Town-ways and bridges and to determine the expenditure of the same.


7th. To see if the Town will accept and approve of the Jurors nominated by the Selectmen and act thereon.


8th. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sum of money to purchase books for the Public Library.


9th. To see if the Town will allow a discount to per- sons making a voluntary payment of their taxes on or before some date that may be fixed by the Town and charge interest after a date the Town may fix.


10th. To see if the Town will authorize the Treas- urer to hire money under the direction of the Selectmen to pay Town charges.

11th. To determine the compensation of the Treas- urer and Collector of taxes.


12th. To see if the Town will instruct the Overseers of the Poor to hire a Superintendent of Town Farm for the year succeeding their term of office, and for the year commencing April 1st, 1899, or to otherwise dispose of the town farm.


13th. To choose three Fish Wardens.


14th. To choose three Oyster Wardens.


15th. To see if the Town will vote to purchase a steam-roller and stone-crusher for the use of the Town upon the highways and to provide for the payment of the same agreeable to a petition of Andrew J. Hathaway and nine others.


16th. To see if the Town will vote to repeal the vote adopted at a Town Meeting, held April 4th, 1891, where- by the Town accepted the provisions of Chapter 158 of the Statutes of 1871, and Sec. 74, 75, 76 and 77 of Chap. 27 of the Public Statutes, relating to the election of Road Commissioners, agreeable to a petition of L. J. Wade and nine others.


17th. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sum of money to purchase a safe for the Town records.
