ANNUAL REPORT.

Public Library Report.

During the past year there has been the usual gain in volumes added to the library, also in num- ber of borrowers. Another book case has been placed in library, making shelf room for two or three years more. Ever since the library was es- tablished it has been cared for by ladies living near by, who have received no compensation for their work. As the appropriation is made for the pur- chase of books only your Trustees had no funds for this work.

The following report is respectfully submitted : Number of infectious diseases reported 1902,

Scarlet fever, 6 cases. Scarlatina, 1 Diphtheria, 10 66

The town at its last annual meeting voted to author- ize the selectmen to employ a physician by the year to at- tend all pauper and board of health cases. Dr. Joseph B. Sayles, the lowest bidder, was awarded the contract from Apr. 1st, 1902 to Mar. 1st, 1903.

A family who had been exposed to the small pox were quarantined for fifteen days.

The bills appearing for medical attendance before April 1, 1902, were contracted under the other system. It seems very advisable for the town to employ a physician for the next year.
