REPORT OF MOTH SUPERINTENDENT


To the Board of Selectmen :


The elm trees in Town have had two sprays as ordered by the State under my supervision at the cost of $350.00. The spraying was done by the Hixon Tree Company. We also paid $2,410.14 for the removal of diseased and dead elm trees and debris.


While we have no gypsy moth in the Town at present, we are on the watch in case they should return.

The following are approximate figures on the amount of water pumped, hose laid and ladders raised :

On June 5 and 6, the Department aided Taunton in rescue work at Sabbatia Lake using two Walkie Talkie Radios, again on June 17 aid was sent to Taunton, Weir Village section, supplying radios for communications.


Drills on various phases of fire fighting were held monthly and attended.


I wish to express my appreciation to the Town Officials and the Citizens of the Town for their assistance and fine cooperation in keeping the fire losses down during the year. Telephone Dighton NO 9-3131-Taunton VA 3-3700.
