A rental collection of books have been added for borrowers who wish to pay two-cents-a-day, giving borrowers some of the new books to read for a few cents. When the books pay for themselves more new ones will be added and the old ones will be placed on shelves for circulation.

REPORT OF TOWN CLERK
EXCERPTS FROM TOWN MEETING RECORDS (March 6)
Voted to instruct the members of the school board of Carver to award all contracts for transportation of school pupils in said Town only after duly advertising the route for competitive bids and duly considering the same.
Voted unanimously that a committee of five be appointed to frame by-laws defining the powers and duties of the finance committee and report at a special town meeting if found necessary, and that the committee be appointed by the moderator.
Under the above order the moderator named:

Voted to instruct the Town of Carver school committee to close the school at Carver Centre known as the special school at the close of the present school year and transfer the pupils therein back to their proper grades.
Voted to order town officers to advertise for bids for all supplies and equipment the cost of which exceeds fifty dol- lars, said advertisements to be posted on the bulletin boards at the town hall and the Postoffices in Carver.
Voted to discontinue the old Federal road so-called, from Tremont St. south to the Wareham line.
(Adjournment March 20)
Motion by the school committee William I. Ward and Ellis D. Atwood, duly seconded, that the town raise and ap-

propriate the sum of $33,575.00, the amount of money neces- sary for the support of public schools, as required by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, for the current year of 1933.
Motion duly seconded that the motion be amended by striking out the five hundred dollars so the amount to be raised and appropriated read as follows: $33,075.00.
House divided on the amendment and the vote so over- whelmingly in the affirmative that the moderator decided the amendment accepted without counting the votes.
Motion duly seconded that the salaries of all town officers be the same as last year.
On a division the motion was accepted by a vote of 25 to 9.
Voted to reconsider the action taken at the meeting March 6, under Art. 18 of the warrant.
Voted that the Federal road from Tremont street to the old Benjamin Wrightington homestead, be discontinued.
Voted to appropriate the sum of $548.00 paid into the town treasury by the County Commissioners, for account of land damage on Plymouth and Centre streets.
