The circulation for 1943 was less than for last year and the reports are incomplete, as some were not made out, but I feel it is a good circulation, as people have been "short of gas" and are "saving tires", as much as they possibly can.
I have worked at the Library for about fifteen years, and owing to circumstances at home have sent in my resignation, which is to take effect January 1st, 1944. I have enjoyed the work and want to thank the Trustees for the help and kindness they have given me. I also want to thank the people, who over this period of years, have worked with me, and wish them much happiness in the future, with the new Librarian.
MYRTLE L. ATWOOD,
Librarian.

REPORT OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
Upon the resignation of Myron H. Hayden Chief of Police last May 1943, your Board of Selectmen have en- deavored to secure a suitable man for this position, but up to the present time have been unable to do so.
We feel however that the Town should have this sort of protection and we shall, as soon as possible, secure a man who can be placed on permanent duty.
Our three Constables and Special Police have been ready and willing at all times to help as have the State Guard Organization, and to them, our sincere thanks.
