Article 8. To see if the Town will vote to fix the salary and compensation of all elective officers of the Town as provided by General Laws, Chapter 41, Section 108, as amended namely:
Highway Surveyor $1.50 per hour
Town Treasurer $1,350.00
Town Clerk $800.00
Tax Collector
$1,350.00
Moderator $20.00 for the Annual Town Meeting and $5.00 for each Special Town Meeting.
Members of School Board $2.50 for each meeting, plus $1.25 per hour for all meetings of over 2 hours.

Article 9. To see if the Town will vote to transfer from the overlay reserve account to the 1957 Reserve Account the sum of three thousand ( $3,000.00) dollars, and, also, to transfer the additional sum of two thousand ($2,000.00) dollars, from a-

vailable funds in the treasury to the said 1957 Reserve Ac- count, and act thereon.

To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate the sum of six thousand five hundred ( $6,500.00) dollars for Chapter 81 Highways, and to transfer the sum of seventeen thousand eight hundred seventy-five ($17,875.00) dollars from unappropriated available funds in the Treasury to meet the State's share of the cost of the work, the reimbursements from the State to be restored, upon their receipt, to unappropriated available funds in the Treasury, and act thereon.

Article 13. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Cemetery Commissioners and the Park Commissioners to em- ploy themselves as laborers in the Cemeteries and Parks, and act anything thereon or thereto.

To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate the sum of eight hundred and fifty ($850.00) dollars to be used to pay for all private work and material in Town Cem- eteries, such as, opening graves, building foundations, etc., as according to General Laws, Chapter 44, Section 53.

Young a certain set of "Prang's War Pictures", subject to the following conditions, namely: that said pictures be framed and kept available for display at the Governor John Carver School, and that in the event that the School authorities no longer wish to keep said pictures that they be returned to the donor or to his heirs. (By request ).

To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate a sum of money not to exceed two thousand five hundred ($2,500.00) dollars for the purpose of purchasing a new "Station Wagon" type Police Cruiser, and to authorize the Selectmen to trade the present Police Cruiser for the new Cruiser and apply the trade-in value thereof toward the pur- chase price of said new Cruiser, and act thereon.
Article 18. Recommended by the Finance Committee.
Article 19. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate the sum of eighty-eight dollars and eighty-one cents ($88.81) to pay the following unpaid bills of 1955 and 1956, namely:
Public Welfare (1955) $53.16
Veterans' Benefits (1956) $29.15
Schools (1956) $6.50
and act thereon.
Article 19. Recommended by the Finance Committee.
Article 20. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate a sum of money not to exceed five thousand ($5,000.00) dollars for Assessors' Plans, and act thereon.
Article 20. Not recommended. Finance Committee re- commends a reduction of $2,000.00 due to upward trend in taxes. Recommend $3,000.00 be appropriated.
Article 21. To see if the Town will vote to transfer the sum of two thousand ($2,000.00) dollars from the proceeds re- ceived from the State under the provisions of Chapter 718 of the Acts of 1956, for the purpose of meeting the Town's share

of the cost of reconstructing the bridge over Crane Brook on Cranberry Road, and act thereon.
Article 21. Recommended by the Finance Committee.
Article 22. To see if the Town will vote to abolish the office of Town Planning Board, as established by vote of the Town under Article 18 at the Annual Town Meeting held on March 12, 1955, and act thereon. ( By petition ) .
Article 22. Not recommended. Finance Committee feels the Planning Board has served a useful purpose and will con- tinue to do so.
Article 23. To see if the Town will vote to adopt the Zoning By-Laws proposed by the Carver Planning Board, or to take any other action relative thereto. ( By petition ).
Article 23. Not recommended by Finance Committee in present form. Suggest further study by Planning Board.
Article 24. To see if the town will vote to appropriate a sum of money by taxation, by transfer from available funds, or by a loan issued in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 44, General Laws, for the purchase of a parcel of land, con- taining 32.2 acres, located along the East side of Savery Ave., in the Town of Carver and to be used for a Town Forest or as recommended by the Carver Planning Board, or take any other action relative thereto.
Article 24. Not recommended. The Finance Committee believes purchase price of land too high. The Finance Com- mittee recommends Selectmen report to town at later date as to the taking of a protective strip of land, the length of Savery's Avenue, on both the easterly and westerly side of said Savery Avenue.

Article 25. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of one hundred sixty-six ($166.00) dollars for Town Shed repairs, and act thereon.

Article 26. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of twelve thousand six hundred ($12,600.00) dollars for the purpose of purchasing a new fire truck, together with the necessary equipment, and to meet said appropriation the sum of six thousand three hundred ($6,300.00) dollars be trans- ferred from the unexpended balance of the appropriation for the new fire truck voted under Article 20 at the Annual Town Meeting on March 10, 1956, and that, in addition, the sum of six thousand three hundred ($6,300.00) dollars be raised by taxation in the current year, and to authorize the Moderator to appoint two members of the Fire Department to act with the Selectmen in the matter of purchasing said truck, and act thereon. (By request ) .
Article 26. Recommended by the Finance Committee.
Article 27. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate a sum of money not to exceed one thousand ($1,000.00) dollars for the purpose of painting the Union Cemetery fence, and act thereon. (By request ) .
Article 27. Not recommended. The Finance Committee after due consideration, believes fence rusted beyond repair and believes paint a waste. Under Article 15 in Town War- rant the Finance Committee recommends that the Town Moderator appoint a committee to investigate cost of new fence at Union Cemetery.
Article 28. To raise and appropriate such sums of money as may be necessary to defray town charges for the ensuing year.
