Turned over to Town Treasurer $4 34
In July 1938 we received from the Metropolitan District Water Supply Commission all the books, furniture and fixtures of the Public Library of the former town of Greenwich. The Greenwich library had two trust funds-one of $500.00 and an- other of $200.00. To have these transferred to New Salem li- brary required legal action in the Hampshire County Probate Court.
Under date of March 30, 1941, your Library Trustees made formal request for these funds. About two years later the Attorney-General's office started Cy pres action in Hampshire Probate Court, but there were legal delays and it was not until June of this year that they were finally turned over to New Sa- lem. They were in the form of two deposits in Ware Savings Bank as follows :-
Rebekah W. Spooner Fund
$500.00 plus interest $142.34, total $642.34
44
Stephen R. Bailey Fund $200.00 plus interest $56.85, total $256.85 Total of the two funds $899 19
We wish to express our thanks to those who have donated books or magazines to the library.

Orange Committee on Post-War Rehabilitation Eastern Franklin District of Veterans' Service ORANGE-WARWICK-WENDELL-NEW SALEM
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen
New Salem Massachusetts
Gentlemen:
I herewith submit the annual report of this Department for the year, 1,947.
There has been no decrease in service to veterans, families, and dependents, and, as the report shows, there has been a steady increase.
We have set up a system for recording discharges for Veter- ans of all wars and have recorded many to date. Veterans should take advantage of this important service.
The amount of service this department renders has made it possible to have the Veterans' Administration assign a Contact Representative to meet with us twice a month, namely, the first and third Fridays from 2:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. We also have the Veterans' Administration Training Officer at this office each Tuesday from 10:00 a. m. to 12 noon.
At the meeting of the District Directors, the town of Erving made application to join our District and its application was ac- cepted. This makes five towns in our Eastern Franklin District to service: Orange, Warwick, Wendell, New Salem and Erving.
A recapitulation of cases serviced appears as follows:
