AUGUST 26, 1864-JANUARY 27, 1914.

Though called from his work suddenly and prematurely, Mr. Lowell had labored long enough to make a profound impression upon all who knew him. Hundreds of public school children will gratefully remember the earnestness with which he strove to im- part to them the rudiments of the art he loved so well. Scores of private pupils will miss the more personal relation of teacher and pupil. Church choirs and music lovers not a few will feel keen- ly the loss to the profession.

His was a life that furnished many an example worthy of imitation. The qualities exhibited in obtaining his musical edu- cation, the whole-hearted manner in which he used it in the service of others, his high ideals of excellence, and his firm belief that education is life-long are characteristics which any young per- son would do well to copy.

Four years have slipped away And here tonight we stand, Nine sailors in the bay Just stepping from the land.

Hail ! Class of our fondest hopes,

Hail! Class of dix-neuf treize ; We pledge thee unfailing allegiance, We'll cherish thy memories for aye.

Classmates, we part, and to our duties pass, But friendship's ties need not sever. For the sake of this dear old class May we again all meet together.

To what fate-we do not know, But as we're marching forward, 'Tis very true, that, as we go, God will lead us "Ever onward."
