REPORT OF TRUSTEES OF TAFT PUBLIC LIBRARY.
This is the fifty-first annual report of the trustees of the Taft Public Library. We are proud to report that the past year has been a most prosperous one for the library. Each year the facilities and advantages of the library are increas- ing. The gift of the Fletcher Fund, the income of which is to be used for the purchase of books, makes it possible for Mendon to have a rather better collection of books than most any other town of its size. As years go on this fund for purchasing books will make it possible to greatly enlarge the number of volumes in the library.
This library contains not only a great variety of best fiction much desired by the public in general, but also a large collection of encyclopedias, reference books, historical works, and other books of general information. The schools are finding these books very helpful for the work of the students. The library is provided with twenty of the best magazines. These magazines are much enjoyed by those who come to the library, especially the children, who also delight in the many children's books.
The library is fortunate in retaining its capable libra- rian. She, with her willing assistants, gives excellent service to the patrons of the library when they call for books.
The library has been open the same hours Tuesday af- ternoon and evening and Friday evening of each week as in the past two or three years. It has been very well patronized, as the librarian's report shows, and the high character of the books purchased is also revealed by her report.
