To either of the Constables of the Town of South- bridge, in the County of Worcester, GREETING :


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachu- setts you are hereby requested to notify the inhabi- tants of the Town of Southbridge, aforesaid, quali- fied to vote in town affairs to meet in the Town Hall in said Southbridge, on Monday, the 4th day of March, 1918, at 5.45 o'clock in the forenoon to act on the following articles :


Article 1. To choose a moderator to preside over said meeting.


Article 2. To choose by ballot all necessary town officers for the ensuing year; viz :


Clerk, Treasurer, three Selectmen, three Overseers of the Poor, Collector of Taxes, one Assessor for three years, one Member of the Board of Health for

three years, two members of the School Committee for three years, one Park Commissioner for three years, one Sinking Fund Commissioner for three years, one Sewer Commissioner for three years, two Cemetery Commissioners for three years, one Ceme- tery Commissioner for one year (to fill vacancy), Tree Warden, Highway Surveyor, three Constables and all others provided for by law.


Article 3. To vote by ballot "Yes" or "No" in an- swer to the following question: "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this town?"


Article 4. To hear the reports of the Town Ac- countant, Treasurer, Clerk, Selectmen, School Com- mittee, Library Committee, etc., and to act anything thereon.


Article 5. To raise and appropriate such sums of money as may be necessary to pay town debts and charges for the current financial year or act any- thing thereon.


Article 6. To see what action the town will take in regard to the payment of all town debts outstand- ing and due on December 31, 1917, raise and appro- priate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Article 7. To see if the town will vote to author- ize the Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money in anticipation of the revenue of the

current financial year, or act anything thereon.


Article 8. To see if the town will vote to author- ize the Selectmen to cause an audit to be made of the town's accounts for 1918, or act anything thereon.


Article 9. To see if the town will vote to pay the Enginemen, or act anything thereon.


Article 10. To see if the town will vote to give the Tax Collector the same power to collect taxes that the Town Treasurer has when appointed collector, or act anything thereon.


Article 11. To see if the town will vote to fix the compensation of town officers, laborers and teams, or act anything thereon.


Article 12. To see if the town will vote to install four (4) street lights on the road leading to the Almshouse beginning at the school house and con- tinuing easterly, raise and appropriate money there- for or act anything thereon.


Article 13. ยท To see if the town will vote to macad- amize Charlton Street from Mechanic Street to the Cemetery, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Article 14. To see if the town will vote to pave or macadamize Mechanic Street from the bridge northerly to the junction of Mechanic and Charlton

Article 15. To see if the town will vote to raise the sum of $4000.00 to build a waterbound macadam road from the end of the present road on South Street, westerly to a point opposite the Shuttle Shop, raise and appropriate money therefor or act there- on.


Article 16. To see if the town will vote to raise the sum of $1600.00 for gutters and catch basins on South Street, from a point near the residence of El- mer E. Harwood, to a point beyond the Shuttle Shop, raise and appropriate money therefor or act thereon.


Article 17. To see if the town will vote to rescind the vote passed under Article 44 of the town meeting held March 10, 1910, relative to the acceptance of an Act whereby stores are allowed to be kept open on the Lord's day, or act anything thereon.


Article 18. To see what action the Town will take for providing a culvert to drain surface water accumulating on East Main Street near the Coal Dump at Lensdale, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Article 19. To see if the town will vote to take care of and repair Cady Brook, raise and appropri- ate money therefor or act anything thereon.

. Article 20. To see if the town will vote to have all taxes due and payable October 1, 1918, and if not paid on or before October 15, 1918, to have interest charged at the rate of 6 per cent per annum from Oc- tober 1, 1918, or act anything thereon.


Article 21. To see if the town will vote to reim- burse the members of Company N.121, 18th Regi- ment, Massachusetts State Guards, to the extent of $1200.00 for uniforms and equipment purchased by them, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


Article 22. To see of the town will vote to pur- chase field equipment for Companies I and N of the Massachusetts State Guards, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.


And you are directed to serve this Warrant by publishing an attested copy therof twice in the Southbridge Press and Herald, the first publication being not less than nine days next preceding the day of the meeting,-or by posting up such attested cop- ies in four conspicuous public places within the Town, at least nine days, including Sundays,-before the day of holding said meeting.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk at the time and place hereinbefore named.
