SPECIAL TOWN MEETING


Special Town Meeting was called to order at 8 P.M. on March 3, 1960.


Approximately one hundred and ninety (190) persons attended which did not constitute a quorum.


A motion was made to adjourn until 7:30 P.M., March 4th, 1960, and was so voted unanimously.


Adjourned Special meeting was called to open at 7:30 P.M. March 4th but was opened at 9:20 P.M. after a quorum had been established by the Moderator.


Warrant was read by Town Clerk, L. V. Nickerson.


Article 1. To see if the town will accept the provisions of Sections Sixteen to Sixteen 1, inclusive, establishment of a regional school district, together with the Town of Chatham, and the construction, maintenance and operation of a re- gional school by the said district in accordance with the provisions of a proposed agreement filed with the Selectmen.


Motion made by Ralph U. Brett in writing.


"I move that the town accept the provisions of sections sixteen to sixteen 1, inclusive of chapter seventy-one of the General Laws, providing for the establishment of a regional school district, together with the Town of Chatham, and the construction, maintenance and operation of a regional school by the said district in accordance with the provisions of a proposed agreement filed with the Selectmen."

Two hundred and twenty-one votes cast.

Article 2. Voted that the sum of Seventeen Thousand Dollars ($17,000) is appropriated from surplus revenue for the administrative and planning expenses of the regional school district, comprising the Towns of Chatham and Har- wich and that the treasurer is directed to pay the same to the district, provided the establishment of the district is accepted by both of the Towns involved.


Motion of Ralph Brett to accept article as read.


Action: Seventeen thousand dollars ($17,000) appropri- ated from surplus funds. So voted unanimously.
